Don't use "mythos" when you refer to a religion, of any kind. I say Hellenic Faith, not Hellenic Myths. I say Shinto Faith, not Shinto Myths. Be kind and don't treat every religious person like some backwards barbarian. It makes you look like an asshole.
Learn what a word means before you bash people for using it, thank you.
That salute is a sieg heil if i ever saw one
I remember in a church one time we did it to bless those who are graduating a school (my little sister's year from primary to high school). Well, everyone except myself.
note: i'm not saying all christians are hyper retarded, just the ones that made this
Whew bro, for a second I was starting to get really mad until I saw this. I'm a Christian, I own guns, and various other GOP like stuffs, however, I have 2 gay uncles, and I love them to death. thanks for the side note!!
"Then shall they be gods, because they have no end; therefore shall they be from everlasting to everlasting, because they continue; then shall they be above all, because all things are subject unto them. Then shall they be gods, because they have all power, and the angels are subject unto them,"
If you have a copy of the book, look up the section where that verse is from. It quite literally says that you can become god and there are already lots of gods.
It means you will become one with God when you die. That is everywhere in the bible.
It's especially stupid when you consider the only passage in the whole Bible regarding the subject is right next to one telling you to kill kids who curse their parents, not eat any kind of meat except some very specific species (and then only after ritual purification), and regulating what kind of livestock offering to bring to the temple on specific religious holidays.
It's a set of laws governing a specific group under specific circumstances. Saying it applies to modern society is like saying Medieval Russian tax regulations ought to apply to the IRS today.
There are a lot of irrelevant LAWS, it's the new testament that makes them irrelevant. Though I do believe that homosexuality isn't right because it brings it up in multiple places, I'm in no place to convict or judge. Also it isn't even a significant thing, as it would only put anyone doing it on the same level as me: sinner. So why do people make such a big fucking deal out of it? It really isn't a that big a deal.
Really don't know where you guys get your info on Mormons. . .since when do they not believe Jesus was God's son? I'm serious. . .where the shit did you hear that?
I ask because I grew up Mormon, and that shit's news to me.
Is it possible people are confusing Jehovah's Witnesses for Mormons?
So the Heritage Girls now have a male equal group. Kinda expected this sooner tbh.
If he was willing to throw away all that work for something as utterly moronic as this, then he didn't deserve it in the first place
As a Christian myself I can confirm that these are not Christians.
Well they have the right to make it, they did, what's so bad about it?
As a Christian myself I can confirm that these are not Christians.
Or they are, and they're just really bad at it.
For the record, I'm Christian. Nondenominational.
For Christians, I don't think they know what their faith is supposed to be based around. I mean, wouldn't Jesus be the type to accept all people into a club? I dunno, seems kind of odd how they worship the guy but don't act the way he would.

Jesus was the kind of guy who would give you everything he had, no matter who you were, and then buy you dinner. Unless you were ripping people off in the Temple, in which case he'd chase you out with a bullwhip.
The problem is, most modern Christians don't look at the character* of Jesus as anything more than a sacrificial lamb. A lot of modern American Christian thought is derived from the books of S/Paul of Tarsus, a first-century tentmaker-turned-inquisitor who, after having some sort of divine revelation, wrote most of the New Testament.
A few centuries later, the Council of Laodicea (under the direction of Emperor Jovian of Rome) sorted out all the Christian texts, tossed out what disagreed with their interpretation of Christianity, and tacked on some Jewish scripture for good measure. They then united the remnants of the Roman Empire under their new Christianity, and shamed the previous Emperor's attempts to revive Roman Paganism.
Isn't history great?
*As with most people mentioned in the Bible, their biblical character is often very different from who they actually were. It makes a lot of sense, if you're building a religion. Especially in the case of the incarnate Christ, his character had to be entirely flawless. And yet... He did chase people out of the Temple in "righteous anger." Food for thought.

I think the main problem for people who have dogmatic beliefs, in any religion, is it traps them. It forces them to be intolerant.
For example, if the core belief of your religion, for hundreds of years, has been priests can't marry then it's awkward to say the least if suddenly the Pope was to announce priests will be allowed to marry. "So then you're saying he Church was wrong all these years?" would be the implication. So they have to stick to their rules or lose credibility.
So this kid, close as he was to his goal, faced a messed up choice. Earn your Eagle Scout rank, even though it will be awarded by an organization that completely violates your absolutely unquestioned faith, thereby making a mockery of your beliefs OR leave the organization and waste all the time you had invested in it.
I'm embarrassed for his parents, dad especially, who chose to indoctrinate their son into something that would place him in that position. They manipulated their son into sacrificing for their beliefs. Some might say "the son believes too" yeah well that's only because his parents instilled those beliefs his whole life. I bet if they had raised him to understand that it's fine to have strong personal religious beliefs as long as he understands that public interaction means accepting that not all people share those beliefs he'd be far better off.
As it is, he seems to be doomed to live his life in a cocoon, surrounded only by people exactly like himself. Needlessly isolating imo.

nope
they are be definition myths and a collection of myths.
using any other word to describe it would be inaccurate.
The entire concept of this group is retarded. What they're trying to teach children is just flat out intolerance toward people who aren't just like them. The reason this is such a shitty thing is because it teaches that homosexuality is wrong. If this group gets support in their local area, then being gay becomes a negative aspect in that community, where openly condemning people for what makes them who they are will become more acceptable. At least the boy scouts are doing better to be more tolerant of other people. I got kicked out of boy-scouts a few years ago because I was accused of being gay. Even if I were gay, why would it matter at all? Christian organization or not, intolerance is wrong, and I'm pretty sure their religion condemns judging people for what is considered a sin to them.
That probably seems a bit like rambling, but the entire concept of this just irritates me to the point where I don't want to even try and put into words how retarded the idea of "Trail Life USA" is. Hopefully nobody supports this group.
It does? Since when did going to a kid's club look good on a resume?
Being an eagle scout is probably one of the most impressive things that you can put on a college application.

They're not going to gain the traction they think they are. The world doesn't work that way anymore. Trail Life USA will fizzle in this decade.
Why do people have to be so stupid? I'm Christian, get that outta that way, but why do people make such a big deal about homosexuality? Book says it's a sin, yes, but then again, pretty much everything else daily humans do is a sin as well so who the hell cares?
Does it say its a sin?
I was always under the impression the bible mentions something-that-sounds-like-gay-sex is a sin but really its more or less open for interpretation (that people choose to think means gay sex).
Not that it matters anyways since the part of the bible that text comes from is the same part of the bible that says stupid stuff like "stone your disobedient wife". Some of my christian friends I know generally don't really see the old testament as anything but symbolic literature from an older day rather than something you go out of your way to live in every word.

The bible does say it in many places that it is wrong, but the old testament is where you will find the old laws that are now irrelevant IE: "Stone your disobedient wife." For an example of where it says it, flat out, in the new testament, 1 Timothy 1:10. But like I said, it only puts people in the same category as me, sinner. I see no justification to reminding only gay people that their lifestyle is incorrect if you're not going to do it to everyone, and because I don't want to get shot on a daily basis I just sit in my corner and play on my computer.

The most commonly referenced passage comes from the Old Testament (which means it's already unclear as to whether or not it's meant to be lived by) and in English it roughly means "you shall not lie with a man as you would with a woman", however that's also left to some speculation, while there is the argument that it's saying "guys shouldn't have sex with men", there's also an alternate that says it's about sleeping in a woman's bed, or about sharing a bed with another man/woman.
Also there's another part to the passage that says this act is a capital offense, but that part doesn't even exist in a large amount of interpretations.
The old testament isn't the only part that proscribes homosexuality.

it's fairly clear cut but jesus himself has no recorded writings of anything about gay people
