Okay :) Sorry for misunderstanding then, your first comment about requiring current just confused me.
Yeah, I can see how my post could sound like that. No worries.
I've yet to see any of these 'revolutionary' batteries actually come to market. We've been promised super batteries for years now dammit.
We're fucking using super batteries. My phone can charge in an hour or two and last for the whole day almost if I'm not watching movies, even then it lasts a good 3ish. And that battery is tiny, and leaves enough room for a screen and processor and can be recharged a hundred thousand times and still maintain a reasonable use time.
Tell me it's not a super battery.
Progress is gradual and if you can't appreciate what we have now for how amazing it really is then you'll just be disappointed at what we get in the future. Not trying to insult you by that I'm just saying, like a laptop from 10 years ago seems like garbage. 50 years ago that laptop was black fucking magic holy shit so much power and it's lighter than a textbook. It's all relative.
'Super' anything will always be relative.

Lithium-Ion batteries are pretty amazing and are improving gradually now. Although they are advancing quite slowly compared to other technology, however in the last few years development has really picked up. Tesla has been making moderate energy density improvements with Panasonic to their cells every year for a few years now. The cost is also coming down with the Gigafactory about to start producing cells. From the leaks it looks like Tesla is getting ready to release a new 100 KWh battery pack for their cars, most likely just from increased energy density on the same number of cells, which is a 11% improvement from last year!
Quoting Elon Musk on this one:

Edit: Just realized this was necro'd, the point stands though.
