Everyone involved needs to be charged.
Charged with what? Starting a stupid war? That's not a crime, just stupid. Looking for an excuse? Big deal, people do it at all the time. Like it or not, they did nothing they could be charged with.
Holy shit. I mean, it was expected, but I never thought that bush was THAT malevolent.
I would blame his cabinet really. He was a bit of a hands off kinda guy.
This is beyond war crimes.
not really all they did was lie nazis committed genocide
Congress didn't even permit the invasion, neither did the UN.
Yes they did. Overwhelmingly by both sides. As for WMDs, that came up a while ago and has already been stated that they fucked up their investigations. And the US does not need authorization from the UN. The UN has limited enforcement capabilities. It can't enforce laws on member nations, and it can't even establish tribunals in the U.S.
I still can't believe he made it in office twice. Shows what kind of idiocy this country is capable of.
I still can't believe he made it in office twice. Shows what kind of idiocy this country is capable of.
No, just shows what people do when they are desperate.
I still can't believe he made it in office twice. Reading this made me angry. What the fuck.
not really all they did was lie nazis committed genocide
- They lied to the world - We INVADED ANOTHER COUNTRY - We basically REPLACED THEIR GOVERNMENT - They lied to the American Public - They wasted tax payers money for their own benefits - Thousands of people were killed - Countless troops died - We're STILL THERE but now leaving thanks to OBAMA. - They lied about WMD - They probably went there for only oil - They tortured people - They passed the PATRIOT ACT which is COMPLETELY UNCONSTITUTIONAL Must I say more?
No, just shows what people do when they are desperate.
Maybe I call it idiocy for one because people where more concerned about gay marriage and abortion then the fact that there was still absolutely no evidence of WMD's and the economy was starting to take a turn for the worst. All the actual important things pretty much ignored
Remember that push to impeach Bush near the end of his presidency? Wish this would have come up then.
Remember that push to impeach Bush near the end of his presidency? Wish this would have come up then.
He doesn't even deserve impeachment. He deserves prison for his crimes.
not really all they did was lie nazis committed genocide
Yeah, no need to worry about all the innocent civilians they killed, not to mention major financial problems for all of U.S.
Yeah, no need to worry about all the innocent civilians they killed, not to mention major financial problems for all of U.S.
okay you're right I'd rather have Hitler in charge
He doesn't even deserve impeachment. He deserves prison for his crimes.
Hardly either. He was an idiot, but he didn't do anything worthy of either.
- They lied to the world
Happens all the time, and wasn't a major lie even. They didn't say they would, they just wanted an excuse.
- We INVADED ANOTHER COUNTRY
Really? Holy fuck, War has been declared! That has never fucking happened before. That happens.
- We basically REPLACED THEIR GOVERNMENT
You mean the harsh government that killed many of its own citizens and was basically slowly destroying the country on its own.
- They lied to the American Public
Governments do that every second of the day. The British, French, German, Swedish, Australia, all of them lie every second of the day.
- They wasted tax payers money for their own benefits
Hardly for their own benefits. No oil has been brought in as a result, and the price has actually gone up since. If they wanted oil, they would have gone after a country like Saudi Arabia.
- Thousands of people were killed
That happens every minute in Africa as a result of Famine and Disease. It happens in the U.S. every day. It happens in war. You can't completely avoid civilian casualties.
- Countless troops died
They agreed to it, knowing full well that they could be deployed at any moment and die at any moment. There is no draft, so all of these people were willing.
- We're STILL THERE but now leaving thanks to OBAMA.
Was this supposed to be an actual arguing point or just a thinly veiled attempt to go "OBAMA! OBAMA! OBAMA!"
- They lied about WMD
Bad investigating, not lying.
- They probably went there for only oil
See previous point.
- They tortured people
The only truly valid point, and even then, that is hardly a major offense. The most that would carry in most cases is a large fine.
- They passed the PATRIOT ACT which is COMPLETELY UNCONSTITUTIONAL
The Supreme Court and Congress both seem to disagree. And more importantly, these things have happened before. Abraham Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus to try and suppress local militias and prevent other states from seceding from the Union. Franklin Delano Roosevelt had many Japanese Americans and German Americans forced out of their homes and in to internment camps during World War 2. [editline]05:50PM[/editline]
Yeah, no need to worry about all the innocent civilians they killed, not to mention major financial problems for all of U.S.
Many of which were unintentional. And the economic crisis can be attributed to many factors, not just the war.
Honestly, I think people kind of already had this feeling about Iraq. Since it was revealed they didn't have WMDs I think many people stood behind them because our troops were over there fighting.
"people have done bad things before therefore it's ok for people to do more bad things"
Its more like "People have done shit that was just as bad if not worse and haven't been charged as war criminals or thrown in jail, so apparently there is no problem."

You're basically okay with the Government breaking the law and innocent people dying? Okay, cool. Your opinion, I've got my own.
Is it just me, or does it seem like that bullet point is asking how the war would start, not how to start it? Of course, thinkprogress is a pretty funny website anyways, so I wouldn't really think much of it.

You're pointing out all the corruption and bullshit our government has done and aren't taking it into consideration in the least bit. Fortunately, we don't share your apathetic attitude towards our government's wrongdoings.
Isn't this post... oxymoronic?
Aren't you... bad at reading?
Fortunately, we don't share your apathetic attitude towards our government's wrongdoings.
So you took it to an internet forum? If you want to keep people from being tortured, that's a noble goal, but really, if complaining on Facepunch is all you're doing, you're not really any better than anyone else. That's not to say that you don't accomplish anything anywhere else, but I really got a "Morally Superior" vibe out of your post there.
So we invaded a country, and completely obliterated their way of life under false pretenses? SHOCKING!

Nothing new. Everyone one knows 9/11 was the golden ticket, weather it was faked or it is real.
hahaha oh god... americas government is the most pathetic piece of comedy worldwide.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. Jesus, who fucking couldn't see this?

I did get a few people minds open at work but thats just it, only a few had a brain and knows what's going on now.
I really want to know where the "Anti-islamistic campaign" started o.O
