Subway removes bacon and ham from UK branches and introduces Halal-only meat - Polidicks

The Subway at my uni serves both ham bacon and halal meat. There aren't any problems too. Great, now I feel like eating at subway.

Why yes it is as fucking retarded as it sounds.[/QUOTE] Nah, I'm fairly certain that Muslims can eat non-halal meat without being 'damned' if it was done accidentally or under duress (e.g it's a case of eat it or starve, or they are forced to, etc) As long as Subway only uses meat which has been stunned first, then I don't really see any issue if some of their stores stock halal replacements for some fillings. When I lived in Mile End, which has a huge Islamic population, most of the fast food places there only stocked halal stuff, but it wasn't that difficult to find non-halal stuff if you wanted to.

The blood is supposed to drain from the brain and the animal loses consciousness, IIRC.

I recently read about a halal butcher, in a tesco provider slaughterhouse who killed 45 chickens per minute... and prayed, vocally, as required, for each one, saying "Bismillah" ("In the name of God") and then three times "Allahu akbar" (God is the greatest). 45 times per minute, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, for years no doubt.

Good lord this has brought out all the racists on my facebook.

The animal is being killed for food and the outcome is the same, if the final outcome wasn't death I would understand the complaints about suffering. As someone alluded to in an earlier post they are probably doing it in areas where the non halal products aren't selling so they are just being wasted. On top of that, it might increase customers who didn't previously consider subway. A major company would not do something like this (in a non Muslim country anyway) without seriously considering the risks (ie monetary loss).
