The opinions I heard on the radio this morning is that people don't think AV will make much of a difference, it will need more time and money than the current system and that it will cause more indecision. Somebody also said that it goes against the "one man, one vote" principle, but I'm pretty sure that's just somebody who knows even less about politics than me. As I was listening to it, I got the feeling we'd end up keep FPTP.
I know a lot of people who want PR, and some of them say that AV is a step in the right direction, but most say why waste money on something that doesn't really change anything.
Huhne's just conceded the damn thing. Welp, he'd make a good LD leader.
I know a lot of people who want PR, and some of them say that AV is a step in the right direction, but most say why waste money on something that doesn't really change anything.
Nick Robinson pointed out that FPTP gave a us a hung parliament in Westminister, while Scotland just got a majority government with PR, I found that really interesting though I don't support PR myself

There were also a few who were stubborn traditionalists who couldn't give a reason why they want to keep FPTP. Oh, and one guy who was confused about the meaning of "one man, one vote" 3/4 of an hour and 1 person who said he voted for AV
Of 279 councils, only 34 have yet to declare, and one of them is mine. Hurry up damn it!
I think I'll just call it 70/30 and cry myself to sleep. Whinge whinge sob.
Wow the AV vote's been a waste of money that could have been spent on other stuff thanks to the people that have voted no.
Um, no. Try to follow politics properly next time before typing.
Well I follow politics and even do it at A-level and can safely say that there is very little difference between the parties today. Labour is now more right-wing than the Tories were immediately after the war.
Leaflets like this is why people voted no: One MP compared them to Nazi propaganda. I received about 5 different 'no' leaflets, and not one 'yes' leaflet
I'd vote for the toad party.
I'd vote for the toad party.
all glory
--
I wonder who was bankrolling the No campaign

But AV kills babies :hurr:
And we'll just leave Vince Cable sat down in a pile of rubble?
Yes, complete with his hat.

Claiming that AV would allow SOME people to have multiple votes and give others more power.
