We may not be the biggest laughing stock in Europe anymore, thanks Spain! Talk about fucking up this badly.
Nope. UK will remain biggest laughing stock. We've got bigger implications for everyone else. This'd be devastating for Spain but doesn't really impact the rest of Europe as much. Also, Brexit is widely seen as inflaming everything else, so everything after, rightly or wrongly, is automatically less. More importantly I didn't realise Spain still had monarchy. I thought it was just us and Denmark. A quick google search is somewhat enlightening.
So would you allow Quebec to be independent?
Reminder that we have held two votes and they nearly won the second referendum, and in the end they wanted all the benefits from the Federal government but local autonomy, and they got some of what they wanted without needing to leave. Of course, after the fact, the Supreme Court ruled that the Separatist plan to declare unilateral independence if they'd won was illegal. :v: Basically, Quebexit (as it was never called) is what Brexit should have been but suddenly the world's gone stupid and democracy's broken.
If they wanted to of course
We had a referendum over twenty years ago. It narrowly went no. We (Canada/the Fed) talked about it like adults afterwards and tried to make Quebec happier (by granting them distinct society status, among things), and since then the separatist movement has basically evaporated.
Probably because they were being beaten

That's because only 42% could make it there with Spain shooting them and beating the crap out of them
...I mean, out of those 700~800~millions injured and shot and savagely beaten, only 4 were hospitalized, and 1 of the 2 serious-condition ones was due to an unrelated heart attack. (Full disclosure, the other one was due to a rubber ball. Which is the shitty thing of standing off to police in riot gear.) The rest of them were attended and released right on the street or released after a few hours in a medical center, part of them due to light bruises, anxiety attacks and dizziness. If 1.5~2m voted and the fascist spanish regime was after oppressing and censoring, how come less than 1% of them got mildly injured (with even less actually caused by the police)? I know it makes for a S I C K headline in that other thread, but can we stick to the facts?

It almost looks photoshopped, especially the last panel.
They're not becoming anything if they keep doing illegal shit.
They're not becoming anything if they keep doing illegal shit.
yeah, they should just become independent through sheer force of mind power instead
They're not becoming anything if they keep doing illegal shit.
You wanna rejoin the Soviet union?

We're still upset about you getting rich while we got broke in the second world war tho.

Do you guys not remember the Marshall Plan?
Catalonia will move on Monday to declare independence from Spain after holding a banned referendum, pushing the European Union nation towards a rupture that threatens the foundations of its young democracy.
http://www.thehindu.com/news/international/catalonia-moves-to-declare-independence-from-spain-on-monday/article19800769.ece Welp we'll see how things go on monday.
So we can probably expect Madrid to lockdown the region in the next two days prior most likely?
That pic was proved it was fake, it is even so obvious at first look. Also voters were tied to ID check and assigned polling stations like any other vote day. Is one of these hoaxes it keeps spreading.
Now I go and say that the pic was proved not to be fake. Your move. Yeah a nice ID check that could only be done manually for hours since the electronic census was seized, and the "assigned polling stations" went (by Generalitat's order) into accepting everyone to take into account the stations shut down by the police, 45 minutes before it started. What verification was done to make sure someone in a center didn't vote in another, when they were using manual lists? Calling the other centers to scratch every voter's ID off their lists? A Whatsapp group? I'm curious. Hell, let's imagine the servers came back and network was restored. What's the plan if an ID had already voted in another center? Throwing away a random vote?
Here's another example [t]https://www.ecestaticos.com/imagestatic/clipping/dac/0da/dac0da0e0b81590ba72b50473825acdc/imagen-sin-titulo.jpg?mtime=1506875836[/t]

but don't you get it? only the people who wanted to separate were allowed to vote twice!!! /s
but don't you get it? only the people who wanted to separate were allowed to vote twice!!! /s
i don't see anywhere on photo that he voted yes either.
I'm worried, because if this turns violent then Russia and the US could try to stick their dicks in it to proxy war it and make it worse, this should be more of an EU issue.
I'm worried, because if this turns violent then Russia and the US could try to stick their dicks in it to proxy war it and make it worse, this should be more of an EU issue.
The EU* already intervened, and they said it's Spain's problem. So. *Brussels
The EU* already intervened, and they said it's Spain's problem. So. *Brussels
every country apart from Venezuela said the same, its not just the EU leadership
A quick update on the speech given:
"Today I assume the mandate for Catalonia to become an independent state in the form of a republic," says Mr Puigdemont. But he adds: "We're suspending the declaration of independence for a few weeks, because we want a reasonable dialogue, a mediation with the Spanish state."
So they're gonna go for independence, but will try to do talks with spain first before doing a full declaration. But chances are spain is gonna remove power from the catalan government and put it under total spanish control, which is gonna end well.
Amazing, Catalonia has been independent for three seconds I'll admit I didn't expect that There's rumours of catalonians who had just cut their ID when they heard the independence 'pause' announcement (and will have to pay for its renewal ):v:
Guess we made it after all.
I can't believe Catalonia is fucking dead.
all honesty, Catalonia is being rather reasonable about the whole thing. Even giving more talks a chance to happen, I guess it's all in spain's court as to how orderly this all proceeds.
