Expanding:

Each team mate, say your group is 5+1 (that 1 beign you) and is comprised of your fresh recruits from the academy. You can choose your first 5 from a huge list of (randomly generated) graduates, and you can mix/match specialties.

Let's say you have a member named "Johnson". Johnson is adept at breaching rooms and doing audio surveillance. You equip him with a blast-charge and a jammer. He levels up his skills in breaching and audio surveillance, but his basic assault/other skills lag behind.
As time goes on, missions will become more difficult and will demand that other members step up their game in terms of lower-class skills. However, let's say you're taking on a compound and Johnson is killed, even though he's an expert in audio and all that. You now have to return to the Academy and find his replacement by choosing a greenhorn.

You can choose any mission at any time beforehand (jewlery store robbing/domestic dispute, etc.) but to get to tougher missions, you must progress onwards. You can use the early missions to grind your new recruits, but there'd be a system implemented that after a certain level, perks cannot be trained on certain levels (I.E "Your Assault skill is level 15 and will not be improved on this mission, continue?")
Because facepunch is being a turd and making editing the op a hassle:

The way you've put it, it does sound rather nice. Shame that the final product most likely won't be anything like it. Great job yourself however!

A grenade? An MG-36? A fuckin' Crossbow*? What SWAT team uses these!?
[sp]*Gimmicky bullshit from BF3/4[/sp]
a swat team based battlefield.
interesting, something tells me it will be a dumbed down swat 4.
It will be Battlefield 4 with different models and weapons, and more urban first worldy environments. Big woop if you ask me. Could just be a $15 expansion to be honest
There's no way a Battlefield game is going to have the pace of the old Sierra SWAT games, it's just Battlefield with GIGN, GSG9, and SWAT uniforms
Like really, all I'm expecting is another BF3/4. Team Deathmatch on Villa, SWAT vs. Urban Gangs. No thanks.

Aaaand how I wish I could code/actually bring these to life.
I'm just another ideas guy v:v:v
muh merges
EDIT:
MY FUCKING MERGES
So what? In case you haven't heard there are only so many guns in the world, what are you expecting them to add exactly? Some obscure firearms designed in Serbia wouldn't make any sense in a SWAT game.
No, I was expecting them to update four year old (The BF3 weapon models are ported from Medal of Honour 2010) assets instead of reusing them yet again.
CS:GO competitor.
Shit; I want the charm that Battlefield 2 and its expansions had. I want that scale in map sizes again.
Fuck it, I WANT A NEW 2142 in the same spirit of 2142; give me an upgraded titan gamemode, new walkers and I'm fuckin set. Last thing, they have to bring back the pod-launching that the 2142 beta had. That has to be my absolute favorite form of transportation in a game.
I'm hoping Battlefront 3 is going to be inspired by that game. It's the only Battlefield that I got addicted to. It was such an underrated masterpiece.

Wouldn't a CS (or other more tactical shooter) clone but arcadier, with wep customization just be CoD?

so are those just pictures straight from bf4 or something?
those are just the attachements from that game
im sceptic about this
Really hoping it's going to be less of an action shooter; any kind of police FPS with constant gunfire is just going to be ridiculous.

It all came from a battlelog update, so I'unno.
Oh cool, another beta.
Didn't know King took over EA
Eh. Counter-Strike needs competition. If EA comes out with something that makes CS:GO look like shit, then I'm all for it.
Might be cool. I'm still waiting on my damn Bad Company 3 though.
Can anyone explain what was so great about Bad Company compared to previous Battlefield games? I played nearly every BF game and out of all of them, Bad Company's, while fun, felt the most CoD-ish of them all, which is weird because everyone keeps going on about how that's a bad thing and then pointing out how BC is the best thing ever. I honestly don't understand it.

They couldn't match Counter-Strike even if they tried. Their servers aren't as good as Valve's (and those aren't even great), the engine is neat but kinda clunky when it comes to close quarters, and they never rebalance unless they're devastatingly game-breaking.
Even CS:GO's servers will be better than this if they use the same servers as BF 4
[sp]CS:GO official servers are terrible with their 64 tick rate[/sp]
Or EA could just make an actual sequel to BF2 instead of that BF3/BF4 garbage.
I'm gonna piss myself if they use Bad Boys in the reveal trailer or, I don't know, on the car radio in the trailer (or something stupid like that).

They're fairly self aware, tongue in cheek action movies in video game form when you play the single player. The MP is pretty solid, but that isn't where a lot of the charm from the BC series came from to be honest. The sound design, whilst exaggerated to hell is also really good, colourful and varied levels for the most part.
It's still pretty CoD-like, but goes in a different direction entirely in terms of tone.

Wait, I thought everyone knew this was Visceral's second team's project already?
The only thing that stood out in newer BF games was scale and vehicles. Guess what game is going to be just like call of duty?
They can't even make a good SWAT game it seems.
Why not take a Rainbow Six Patriots route with a homegrown insurgency in the United States/Mexico?
Why not have more underground and unconventional weapons?
WHERE THE FUCK IS MY LUTY MACHINE PISTOL!?
