I don't understand why you guys are all upset. This is fuckin great and we can use a change of scenery (let's be honest bf3 and 4 are pretty much the same game). For all we know this could include large urban blocks with some clear objectives. [editline]27th May 2014[/editline] Yeah, because cs has helicopters and grappling hooks.
How on Earth is it great. Anyone will tell you that a high amount of interest lies in the Bad Company series or just something a bit more different. This is going to be the same trash as something like BF4. Prepare to play TDM between SWAT and Perps and a campaign that could barely have a long story. i found a highly classified beta image!!
Fix BF4 before
Actually I think it'd be really cool if it's like massive city maps where the focus is more on gathering intel and finding the enemy rather than running around on fourty-something kill streaks. Maybe a hostage gamemode where gang team is given a target to bag and police are supposed to defend. Or a heist mode where crims suck up as much cash from civilians as possible but civvies can provide intel to cops.
I think it's worth pointing out that this is being developed by Visceral, creators of the Dead Space series and an upcoming Star Wars game, and not Dice.
i doubt this would be any competition for cs considering it has vehicles and attachments. the simplicity in CS is what makes it so popular for competitive play
I can understand the distrust and lack of faith in the Battlefield franchise but for all that whining about wanting original and new concepts in these franchises you guys sure complain a lot when they try something different
This could be interesting. I doubt it's going to be 64 players, though. It just seems unrealistic to have 32 criminals taking part in a bank robbery. Part of me wants this to be a competitive Payday style game, but it's probably going to be more like Counterstrike.

will it have surf maps But really, I'm interested to see what this is all about. As long as it is more complex than just shoot the fuck out of everyone

The concept is awesome and could go a long way, but they're going to need to work hard to make the gameplay really fun. Hopefully at E3, they give us an idea of how the game will play out.
Trailer has been revealed:
Would you look at that, they reused all the 1st person animations. didnt see that coming!1!! /s/s/s/s Seriously, it's still got blazing guns and what not.
that definitely isn't aiming near counter strike. not even close
If anything, that trailer made me a bit more skeptical than I was before. It looks a bit too combat heavy and action-y for a tactical cops and robbers game. I dunno though, I could still like the game even if it wasn't what I was looking for.
They straight up made different maps for Battlefield 4. Yay effort.
Damn. The video already got removed.

Looks kinda fun.
Keep in mind that this is an internal trailer possibly for EA execs and the footage is most likely from early stages of development judging by the lack of detail in environments and (hopefully) placeholder stuff from BF3-4. That said I like the car chase gamemode but it's a pity about the lack of proper civillian element.
I can understand the distrust and lack of faith in the Battlefield franchise but for all that whining about wanting original and new concepts in these franchises you guys sure complain a lot when they try something different
So what IS original in this new title ? They just took elements from popular shooters like Payday and CS, added some Tactical Intervention driving blended it all in Battlefield and now it it is original ?
Looks better than I expected. I was sure that the grappling hook was only going to be usable at predefined locations. Still, it looks way too explodey to be about cops and robbers. SP might be fun though.

Good luck trying to make a battlefield franchise "original" in 2014.
So are they going to be going with the yearly release route with BF now?

We'll see about the multiplayer, maybe there's more planning that goes into some of the gameplay types like pre-planning for heists that wasn't shown in the trailer. Maybe.

The idea was that you were a pigeon in the first world war, on a mission to bring top secret information to the front line. It would be a sideways scrolling game where you would have to tap the screen to flap your wings, fly up and avoid trees, bullets and airplanes. I thought it was an amazing idea, but I never got a response.
Just make a proper 1942 sequel already. 1943 is definitely not enough.

The other, Battlefield: Aftershock was a complete piece of shit that was taken down for false advertising. The game itself was the Big Rigs of shooters.
I might actually get this. For the longest time, I've desired a modern Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear/Raven Shield, as well as a continuation of the SWAT series. This could be the answer. Nostalgia.
Fuck off. Listening to 2002-2006 games' soundtracks makes my eyes water
