I like how in the beginning of this thread, everyone was laughing at the article and siding with the police, then as soon as a few people post some legitimate defenses the whole goddamn thread bandwagons their asses off.
The issue here isn't that people are discriminatory, it's that authority is being discriminatory. Government should be neutral towards things like subcultures, sexual preferences, religious belief, etc. The idea should be to uphold the law, not their personal fears.
People will always poke fun at each other's differences, especially adolescence. In a way it's good, because even though it seems callous and cruel, it builds character and maturity; eventually you realize being different is OK and that you shouldn't let other people's opinions influence your self-concept.
I'd rather live in a place where people confront eachother about their approval/lack of approval and express themselves openly. If I were emo, and someone walked up to me and said they didn't like how I dressed and acted because of this reason and that, at least that person is expressing how they feel. Because I guarantee the people in this thread who claim to hold no negative opinions of those who are different than them are lying. You don't share those opinions because they're often hurtful, but that doesn't mean the thoughts don't go through your head when you see stereotypes in action.
How is everyone ok with a group being persecuted for no reason apart from being who they are? Nazis
Fixed. Fascism itself does not call for purging certain groups of people. Just Nazism.
More on topic, this is pretty fucking stupid. "Damage your gene pool"? Really Armenia?
Sigh, Armenia. How can you ban something like 'emo'? Are you literally going to jail every person that resembles a stereotype emo in any way or form? Damn.
