It is obviously symbolic. This would have been struck down in the senate or president would have used a veto. I believe that it would be much more logical for them to try to lower our massive national debt.
Hah, so have I. So I think I know it a LOT better than you.
Clearly anecdotal experiences like yours sum up the system. OH WAIT NO THEY FUCKING DON'T. We've had different experiences, our system is still NOT BAD. Jesus fucking christ, you've had your ass handed to you all fucking thread and you can't even reply with anything new? Just more anecdotal bullshit? Good fucking job.
excuse me humanabyss my anecdotes rank higher than yours
What the FUCK is your deal?
What the FUCK is your deal? Do you not get that your experiences do not trump mine? Mine don't trump yours, but statistics sure as fuck do, and when it comes down to that, you ARE wrong. I know, you're "right", I love being "right", it's like a warm fuzzy feeling of self delusion.
The belief that any man is an island of one DOES make sense. Since when has a communist country not been an absolute heaping pile of shit? If you love your goddamn communism so much move to the god-awful, piss-poor Cuba that Che Guevara went and fucked up. That's right, Che wasn't a hero. If he was then there would be nothing wrong with Latin America. Well, what is wrong with Latin America? It is no better than before Che converted everything to communism. His parents were angsty rebels. The People's Republic of China has such bad air quality that it caused Olympic athletes to never be able to compete again. Oh, and the Soviet Union fell drasticaly. Plus, pretty soon, Kim Jong-il is going to die. Even if his son takes control, I have a feeling North Korea won't do so well. Especially considering the idiots are building a 105 story hotel. Who would want to stay in a hotel in North Korea where you have guards in your room? And how unethical is it that so many people will just be picked to become guards against their will just so every room can be monitored? It just doesn't work that way. Give me one example of communism leading to a perfect society. Nope, didn't think so. And read The Giver. Perfect example of why communism is fucked up shit.

Universal health care isn't communism.
we do need healthcare, but a federal system will never work. we need a state based system and or a revap of medicare and medicaid. My biggest issue is that you should not being introducing programs like these in a economic depression.
What about the New Deal?
plus none of those countries are communistic leninism/marxism and communism are two different things

No one in the real world is solely responsible for every action they have and no one is solely responsible for the person they end up being. You're affected by everyone and everything in your life and that's what makes you, you, no one is an island because your island been connected to every other island and that's basically just a landmass. There you go, you're part of one huge landmass. We all are.
The Soviet Union was for the vast majority of it's existence, a stalinist dictatorship, not communist. They're quite different.
people on facepunch need to take some kind of marxist thought class or something
people on facepunch need to take some kind of marxist thought class or something
Indeed.
If you love your goddamn communism so much move to the god-awful, piss-poor Cuba that Che Guevara went and fucked up. That's right, Che wasn't a hero. His parents were angsty rebels.
1) Cuba is one of the best off nations in Latin America even with the U.S. Trade Embargo. 2) Che didn't "convert" any country to communism. He was a major player in the Cuban Revolution, he tried to fight in Nicaragua but lost, and tried to start a revolution in Bolivia then he was assassinated. The only country that's "communist" in Latin America besides Cuba is Venezuela, so I'll let you have that he might have inspired the revolution there. 3) What is wrong with Latin America is just the opposite. The free market and globalization fucked their shit up bad. You want to see what effect the free market and free trade has? Look at Mexico, where cheap American Agribussiness has flooded Mexico, driving farmers out of jobs and forcing them either into cities where they live in poverty or driving them to immigrate to the US to live in poverty. Free trade is unfair trade.
The People's Republic of China has such bad air quality that it caused Olympic athletes to never be able to compete again.
China isn't even communist. It's Maoist socially and pretty capitalist economically.
Oh, and the Soviet Union fell drasticaly.
Not communist. The Soviet Union called themselves communist and socialist because those terms meant good things to the people. The US called the Soviet Union socialist and Communist because in our culture it was a bad thing. The term didn't apply in reality, but was just thrown around to control people's opinion. It is Juche, which takes ideas of Stalinism and Maoism and forms it into their own unique political philosophy. Hell, NK doesn't even use the hammer and sickle. Juche: It's the farmer, peasant, and intellectual, whereas Stalinism and Leninism embraced the Peasant and the Farmer.

Too bad they can't actually repeal it, no matter how much they want to. They only have a majority in the House. So they can repeal it there, but it won't pass the Senate. Even if it somehow did, they don't have the 2/3 majority in each house to override a presidential veto.
Good for you. I don't know what country you live in, but here in Canada universal healthcare sucks and is a failure of a system. And usually if you cut your hand open and need to constantly change bandages it means you're in life-threatening danger.
implying that the healthcare bill= communism
This is same paragraph where he implies Che Guevera converted every nation in Latin America to Communism, so you probably can't expect anything else he says to be intelligent or historically accurate.
We actually had that, in the 1900s. It didn't go very well for some reason.
Haha we actually had pure capitalism in the 1900s? The early 1900's was the introduction of the Federal Reserve.. The closest we've gotten to the free market was during the mid 19th century and even then it wasn't a pure capitalist economy.
