Wasn't the first RDR map leaked too?
Almost every Rockstar game have their map leaked before being announced.
They do this on purpose.
After hearing how awful RS has become, I would be skeptical on even trying this. That's not to say I didn't like the first RDR, but they've lost some people who had the utmost positive impact on that game's delivery.
I would think that too, but then I recall all the drama over the work conditions at Rockstar San Diego and I reckon with all the high profile people leaving the impact won't really be felt. They already went through a bunch of bullshit and released a great game with RDR, so this one should be fine.
I really hope it's not called Redemption 2. Red Dead [insert word starting with "R"] seems like a cool way to indicate a new game in the series without the tacky addition of a number,
problem with moving forward is that redemption was all about the death of the west
Tbh I'd love me some classic wild west with indians, chineese gangs etc.
[editline]16th April 2016[/editline]
God I wanna replay this so badly but I can't do the sub 30 fps and shit console controls

If it is like or similar to the idea I posted above, "Red Dead Renegade" would fit perfectly, not only would it match the game setting, but allso follows the convention of syllables of 1-1-3 like the other titles.
I'm calling it now, it's going to be called Red Dead Revengeance
Red Dead Demption.
The absence of a railroad, which was prominently featured in Redemption, is further evidence of this, the site says. However, it's worth noting that map has "railroad" in its key.
But... There clearly is a railroad marked on the map? The yellow line?

More characters like Seth please, loved the guy
Man I really wish R* would sign off of backwards compatibility, I would buy RDR and Max Payne 3 on XBone in a heartbeat
I hope they keep a subtle supernatural thing going on
[sp]that quest where you encounter what I interpret to be Death, and he hints at Marstons eventual grave etc[/sp]
All of the Strangers were somewhat interesting at least. But that one was particularly great as you could see how confused and somewhat annoyed by the strange guy who [sp]knows far too much about you[/sp] John was getting.
Most of the encounters with the Strangers was mostly a resigned sign and a "sure thing..." from John mind :v:

Red Dead Renegade: How John Marston became an outlaw
Red Dead Redemption: How he tried to redeem himself and his family and was led to his demise
Red Dead Retribution: How Jack Marston searches for those responsible for his father's death
Rock Star Redemption: Releasing the new game on all platforms in the same decade
So can this "leak" be trusted?
Not really, but whatever. It's something to fantasize about I guess. And if it's accurate, great. If it isn't, oh well. Don't get your hopes up is all; you'll either be pleasantly surprised when the truth comes, or if nothing else, then you won't be disappointed having already anticipated it to be a fake.
I just hope we'll be able to swim this time around. In Redemption, I felt like I was playing an even stricter version of the old GTA games all over again. I noticed they have a penitentiary out on an island in the middle of the water however, so maybe it'll happen. Or maybe steamboats/ships/small boats will have a place in the game this time around. Then again, maybe it'll only make one brief appearance for a story mission, and then we'll never see it again. I don't know. All this of course is assuming that the map is genuinely accurate and not bullshit.
I really hope in the end that the map we get will be huge, bigger than Redemption's-- just for the sake of enhancing replay value. I've got Redemption's memorized so well it's ridiculous; I used to have dreams about it back when I still played it. The city they've got on there, New Bordeaux, looks huge at least. Comparatively bigger than Blackwater was in Redemption. If this is a prequel actually, I wonder if they'll keep Blackwater the same size it was in Redemption or shrink it down to reflect the fact it was a small community that hadn't flourished yet at the time?
i think the guys who make red dead are like a totally different section of rockstar. not entirely sure so don't quote me on it

They are. Rockstar San Diego vs Rockstar North
Unless something has changed in the company since last I checked, which could be because that was years ago
Rockstar San Diego is a different division, yes. But towards the end of the development cycle of Red Dead Redemption, they ended up having to call on Rockstar North and Leslie Benzies, the producer of the Grand Theft Auto series, to get it in shape.
True. It would be cool to see a game set in prohibition era, but I'd prefer to keep to the old Western setting.
i could see it working: LA noire without the pulp tone and more of red dead's grittiness and themes of change. though if they took that route, i'd rather see it stay in the frontier era, but in a big city, a la gangs of new york
I'm actually hopeful that this takes place during the Klondike Gold Rush. Would be an excellent setting, as Alaska was and still is sorta the last American frontier.
When you look into the history of all the shit like prostitution, native raids, underground casinos, and all sorts of criminal enterprises... I mean christ, it just seems like it would be a perfect fit.
What if they did away from the wild west setting and based it in Hong Kong fighting triads and pirates?
If you've seen Jackie Chan's Project A, that's the kind of setting I'm talking about

The way some of the stuff in that page is written kinda makes it sound like it's made up. It does not sound like anything anyone would every actually say or write unless they were joking.

They are different but back then there were rumors about how the developers worked under slave like conditions. 12h a day and shit. But no idea if it was ever confirmed. So Rockstar San Diego or whatever they are called are most likely just as shit as Rockstar North when it comes to taking care of employees.

Red Dead Railroad: Chinatown Wars
Red Dead Redemption was one of my all time favorite video games. I hope hope hope that a new one will carry that on.
With GTA5 shooting mechanics, like GTA5: RDR.

If that isn't some damn fine writing, I don't know what is.
Honestly after the debacle with mods, i am much less likely to support Rockstar.
The Mafia III reference is neat, would be interesting to see what they do with a much earlier rendition of New Orleans.
Don't know if anyone else has pointed it out, but Beecher's Hope (John Marston's homestead), as well as Blackwater, Tall Trees, and Manzanita Post can all be found in the bottom left corner of the map. So my guess is that the new one is set directly northeast of New Austin, with its southwest-most section sharing some RDR geography and locations. I think that connection is cool, something only Red Dead could do considering the inaccessible nature of the outer landscape.

I had a teacher who used to work for Rock Star San Diego (back when it was still angel studios and then for a while after Rockstar took over). He quit because Red Dead Redemption had been going through development hell and the management staff had no idea what they were doing. None of the teams really communicated. It became a real horror show there after Rockstar took over. I've heard a lot of stories about how bad working there can be.
Rockstar San Diego is also up the street from my office. I see their employee at lunch all the time. I've asked a few what they do there and what they're working on, and the best response I've gotten was a new game in an existing series. Apparently the management is a bit better then it was a few years ago, but it's still a shit show from what I've gathered.
Man fuck seth, especially in undead nightmare

What debacle? they don't break them on purpose.
And if you mean that alternative MP thing, that was 2K not Rockstar
