Work based PC's, sure. But for now it's not much more than a gimmick at the moment on anything else.

I thought you were saying that the $299 point was too close to the normal one, not that a higher one would end up being too close. Come in at the same price as an ipod or come in at a price near the ipad. Regardless this will give more than enough evidence that the ipod touch has been overpriced for a looong time now.

1024x768 is definitely the most logical choice of resolution for this. The first iPad used it, it scales nicely with the iPad 3's resolution, and introducing a foreign resolution (on top of the iPhone 5's) would just be stupid.
