Our President is more important than those people.
If we're being entirely honest, he kind of is. He runs the most powerful country in the world by military power, second richest by GDP, and third largest by population. The President of the United States is very important.
Big difference "between being a bit careful" and being paranoid. A roundabout does not in any way represent a security threat for your president, especially given that the entire area is already extremely secure.
a roundabout actually is a security threat by extension if shit goes down, and they need to drive away fast, navigating a roundabout isn't gonna help
a roundabout actually is a security thread by extension if shit goes down, and they need to drive away fast, navigating a roundabout isn't gonna help
Not only that, the fact that they have to slow down makes it a lot easier to set up a successful attack
Not only that, the fact that they have to slow down makes it a lot easier to set up a successful attack
I believe that is the type of situation Archduke Franz Ferdinand was in when he was assassinated, his vehicle was held up trying to reverse or something and Princip took advatange of that small window of time to kill him. It is absolutely a security threat.
Because he's the leader of one of the most important countries in the world?
If the President dies the rest of the world could go and do whatever they want. That's simply not allowed under the American dictatorship.
There's a big difference between the President of let's say Kazakhstan and the President of the United States, which is one of the most powerful and influential countries in the world (you can take that statement how you want, but that is the objective truth about the USA). Also consider the geopolitical climate of the last decade there's going to be more people out looking for his head.
you mean the USA has a gun control problem and is full of people with a more backwards idea of what peaceful society than, say, Kazakhstan? some level of security is understandable but when the president is so removed from regular people don't you find that just a little weird? how is Obama supposed to know what happens to regular people when he needs a roundabout removed? isn't it a democracy? and let's face facts, US is not the world's superpower anymore. China has already caught up. There are other people on this planet who are a lot more important nowadays especially when they are people who don't go shoving their military into countries that are literally on the other side of the planet. good job on world peace USA.
Why is the president protected this much anyway. He's just a fucking guy. Just fucking demine the round-about and post guys there if it's such an issue, fuck.
Yea, seriously. Why would we want to protect any dignitary! Fuck em. They should take taxis.
If the President dies the rest of the world could go and do whatever they want. That's simply not allowed under the American dictatorship.
What American dictatorship do you speak of?
I hate roundabouts, but fucking seriously? Get bent, find another route. If it's so mission critical slow down then.
I don't know how anyone is going to be a threat to the visiting politicians, theres 10 police on every street corner, swarms of cops on bikes riding around and at least 3 police vehicles in motorcades for cars with extremely tinted windows.
Suicide bombers exist you know, an assassin doesn't need an escape route. One car loaded with explosives and a madman on the accelerator is a genuine threat to the President's Motorcade.
If the President dies the rest of the world could go and do whatever they want. That's simply not allowed under the American dictatorship.
Uh, we don't just suddenly vanish when the the President dies. The Vice President becomes President.
Why is the president protected this much anyway. He's just a fucking guy. Just fucking demine the round-about and post guys there if it's such an issue, fuck.
Yeah, he's just a guy and not LITERALLY THE MOST POWERFUL MAN ON PLANET EARTH.
If the President dies the rest of the world could go and do whatever they want. That's simply not allowed under the American dictatorship.
Could you elaborate on what you are trying to say here, exactly? I'm legitimately confused.
You do know they do infact exist in America.
Hardly, and I've never seen a roundabout here more than 2 lanes.
I think the refusal to remove a roundabout has triggered every Amerifat on this forum (User was banned for this post (""triggered every Amerifat" yeah don't post like this" - postal))
I think the refusal to remove a roundabout has triggered every Amerifat on this forum
Good thing there is no such country as Amerifatia then :v:
I can understand the secret service's point of view because yes having to slow down and not having a clear path to just barrel down if shit goes down, but come on, making major changes to the road like that in such a short amount of time? That's real fucking expensive, and could even be impossible to do in that timeframe.
Here's the three roundabouts near UQ. That tree on the middle one looks huge and old, there's no way in hell they could or would remove that in time.
I hate roundabouts, but fucking seriously? Get bent, find another route. If it's so mission critical slow down then.
You're entirely missing the point. While I don't think remodeling the road is prudent it's not about "gotta go fast" it's about maintaining a minimum speed to safeguard the presidents life in case of an attempt.
I find that if you're cruising at 50km/h and going straight through a roundabout you don't really need to slow down depending on the vehicle I'm sure the beast has been built to stick to the road like shit if it needs to make a drastic turn at fast speeds
I find that if you're cruising at 50km/h and going straight through a roundabout you don't really need to slow down depending on the vehicle I'm sure the beast has been built to stick to the road like shit if it needs to make a drastic turn at fast speeds
One thing notable about the "Beast" is that it's... not very good at inclines. There's no jumping the curb in this thing. It weighs about 20k pounds and tops out at about 60mph so it should deal with sharp turns well enough.
It's just because americans dont know how roundabouts works, the entire motorcade will crash there.
Ha! What could they possibly be scared of in Queensland?
Sorry we've kind of got a little history of our presidents being assassinated or almost being assassinated. Helps to be a bit careful you know?
Ever heard of Olof Palme? I'm not saying the President of the US should just walk around with no security, but the requests the secret service makes are just ridiculous.
Could you elaborate on what you are trying to say here, exactly? I'm legitimately confused.
The post is intended as a joke because come the fuck on, it's a roundabout. However with the exception of one person, everyone took offense to it.
