Correct me if I'm wrong but, the Mississippi flows into the Gulf. Nothing could come up it from the oil spill... could it?
Fishes swim up the river. Birds eat fishes or plants that feed on the shit of fishes. [editline]5th January 2011[/editline] I could also imagine some kind of supersonic experiments.
PLEASE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE COME ON , DADDY NEEDS TO BUY A NEW PAIR OF PISTOLS. despite how scary this is , i wouldn't mind this turning into a zombie apocalypse derp
Arkansas? That's fine. Louisiana? Maybe it's an American thing. Brazil and Sweden? Now I'm worried.

Something tells me it's electro-magnetism related.
Something tells me it's electro-magnetism related.
Could be, but that effects ALL birds, not just Blackbirds Also:
This is freaky, i'm hearing word of tons of dead fish washing onto shores all over the world as well as birds falling from the skies.

Say your prayers boys.
Could be, but that effects ALL birds, not just Blackbirds Also:
Electro Magnetic fields from various electrical devices generally cause problems to birds navigation system causing them to fly about endlessly, this can lead to birds crashing into each other due to this confusion of their location which would explain the blunt trauma. As they're migratory birds then this is probably the case. [editline]5th January 2011[/editline]
Maybe there's just a disease spreading in black birds? And IIRC, the 100k fish that washed up in Arkansas were all one type of fish, maybe that was disease too?
The death of the fish will probably just be a pollutant in the White River, I'm going on the basis that the bird and fish events are unrelated so it's probably a coincidence that the birds and the fish are dying at the same time.
The fuck is happening people
OK, this is getting weird.
I hear it has to do with the united state's government trying to control the earth's weather.
Then they better take this fucking rain off of my yard because it's getting really annoying.
Dat Louisiana
Fuck this, I'm off to Mars.
The death of the fish will probably just be a pollutant in the White River.
Some people did say it could have been the oil spill back last year, but i don't think it was seeing as the river flows towards the sea, not away from it...
Depending on how far blackbirds migrate, there's probably a disease spreading through the population which is getting everywhere as the birds migrate.
State officials say they are investigating a "very large" fish kill in the Chesapeake Bay, but suspect cold temperatures killed them, rather than any water-quality problems. An estimated 2 million fish have been reported dead from the Bay Bridge south to Tangier Sound, according to the Maryland Department of the Environment, which investigates fish kills. The dead fish are primarily adult spot, with some juvenile croakers. Agency spokeswoman Dawn Stoltzfus said bay water quality appears acceptable, and biologists believe "cold-water stress" the likely cause of the fish kill. Spot are susceptible to colder water, she said, and normally leave the upper bay by now. Water temperatures plummeted in late December to near-record lows for that time of year, about 36 degrees. The average air temperature last month was 32.4 degrees, 4.3 degrees below normal, and reached 16 degrees at its lowest, according to the National Weather Service. Large winter kills of spot have been documented at least twice before, the MDE spokeswoman said, with about 15 million dying in early 1976 and a smaller number in 1980. Anyone wanting to report seeing dead fish can call 1-866-MDE-GOTO.
http://www.baltimoresun.com/features/green/bs-gr-fish-kill-bay-20110104,0,5624655.story

The birds have been mutilated and harmed in such ways as being stabbed, cut, shot, tendons sliced, decapitated and their wings cut off. “These are not accidental deaths,” said Jones. “They are malicious and deliberate.” The NC Wildlife Resources Commission has taken the lead in investigating the deaths and is looking for those responsible. “Officers are working daily to gather information that will lead to the arrest and charges against the individual or individuals responsible,” said Jones. In addition, the US Fish and Wildlife Agency has offered its assistance. “It is a state and a federal offense to harm these protected birds,” said Jones. Local law enforcement officials and sheriff’s offices are also helping with the investigation. “I can’t say enough good things about the officers in North Topsail Beach, Surf City and Topsail Beach,” said Deborah Woody, a volunteer at Possumwood Acres Wildlife Sanctuary. “The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office is also taking this very seriously,” said Woody. The volunteers at Possumwood Acres have been picking up the dead and injured birds. Injured ones are either humanely euthanized or considered for possible rehabilitation. The dead ones are catalogued and stored, then taken to the University of Georgia where they will be documented. The documentation will be used as evidence once the person or people responsible for the deaths has been arrested. A few dead pelicans have been found as far north as Atlantic Beach and as far south as Oak Island but the majority have been located at the northern end of Topsail Island. “The greatest concentration of birds have been found north of the SeaView Pier in North Topsail Beach,” said Woody. While finding a few dead pelicans during the winter months is common, the numbers that are currently being found are outside of the range of what is normal. Woody said that anywhere between 15 and 30 birds are found each year that have died due to accidental causes such as encounters with fishing vessels or nets. “It’s escalated tremendously. It’s taking place offshore and they are coming in with the current and the tide,” said Woody. Authorities are also worried about the impact the deaths will have on the nesting season. Audubon North Carolina issued a statement about the deaths. “We are appalled by this news,” stated Walker Golder, Acting Co-Executive Director of Audubon North Carolina. “The pelicans appear to have been intentionally harmed by someone and we hope wildlife enforcement officials will be able to capture the person(s) responsible. I hope that beachgoers will stay alert for more pelicans in distress and report dead or injured wildlife to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. We hope that pressure from concerned citizens and wildlife officials will halt these senseless acts.” A reward for information about the pelican deaths and injuries has been increased to over $5,000. Anyone with information about the pelicans or wildlife violations should call the NC Wildlife Resources Commission at 1-800-662-7137. Anyone finding a dead or injured pelican should contact the police in the area in which it was found: North Topsail Beach 328-0042; Surf City 328-7711, Topsail Beach 328-4851.
Holy fuck this is getting ridiculous.
This is getting kinda mysterious. Either there's a worldwide plot against birds, or there's something real spooky going on. My head suspects the former, but my heart beats to the latter.
I bet this happens all the time, now people are just more aware of it.
:tinfoil:
Oh fuck, pelicans too?
