Just wondering, but is there any software that maps like 3 drive shares to your computer. You drag your files to that single share and its backed up in 3 separate places?

Put it in the folder and it's in 2 places. Install it on a phone (if there's an app), 3 places. Laptop? 4.
Without trying to be insulting, do you really not see the problem with storing important and cherished information on a single hard drive which is prone to dying at any given time?
I can understand that, but with the way Apple advertises ALL their products (safe, secure, shiny, built to last, etc) and the general intelligence of the human population (oh, one backup is okay) you'd think Apple would be more wary about their build quality and recalls.
"It just works."

And let's face it, Apple can't be held responsible for the retardation of some of their consumer base. Come to think of it, anyone else find it kind of odd that he's smart enough to be a lawyer and sue Apple yet he isn't smart enough to make proper backups?

But anyway this guy who is suing is an idiot and likely will lose the case, Apple will state the model is flawed and did recall it, as soon as that is brought up the case will be thrown out of the window or at least a huge chunk of the money he is suing for. Lastly no one should backup to one place, its not even a fucking backup. You should keep a local copy, a copy on an external, then either an offsite backup on a physical drive or upload it online to either your own server at a managed datacentre where that is also backed up daily or to a cloud service which is also backed up daily. Anyone with half a brain would do any of these.
Interesting or not, it's such a trivial incident.
Yes, Abrwon516, a man suing a major world company because of lost photos of his first born child is an everyday errand!
Why is this news? (User was banned for this post ("Why reply?" - Craptasket))
People's reasoning for posting "Why is this news" is getting so god damned broad and nonsensical.

I don't use dropbox for that reason, I'm worried about another megaupload style culling. Also, privacy.

You should look into setting up a RAID NAS, you'll have multiple drives all with backups of each drive, being treated as one pretty much. I've forgotten which RAID it is mind...

I also do agree that it's horribly designed. It has no ventilation so if the power supply does not burn out, the desktop grade SATA hard drive does. Also, the recommendation to backup your backup is stupid for 80% of consumers since it's dumb and expensive to buy a second Time Capsule to backup your other Time Capsule. I'm part of the 20% that does have multiple backups because I know what the fuck LTO3 Ultrium is and how to schedule weekly backups.
For that matter, do any of Apple's higher-end products have ventilation? The more expensive laptop and desktop apple products are completely sealed tight. How the hell does that even work anyways?
Why is this news? (User was banned for this post ("Why reply?" - Craptasket))
news Noun: Newly received or noteworthy information, esp. about recent or important events. A broadcast or published report of news
Isn't Apple's time capsule just a glorified external HDD you can get an actually reliable Seagate or WD external HDD for the same price
Hahaha reliable seagate
I have my pictures backed up in so many different places, it'd be impossible to lose them.
I can see how one of these might be a good idea for a guy like this(who only owns Apple products) because it is easy and integrated with OSX. It's simply plug in, setup in OSX, and begin using. Too bad it is overpriced and not well ventilated :v:
I find it ridiculous that you can sue because a bit of hardware you own broke. Does this mean I can sue Seagate when my HDD fails? I remember I had a floppy disk once that stopped working, if only I remembered who made it...
Jesus for 25k he could probably send it to a forensics lab and have everything he has ever stored on it recovered.
That's probably the point.
