Wait so people are watching videos of random noises and getting high off it? wtf internet
Why are people creeped out by this? It's extremely relaxing.
Wait so people are watching videos of random noises and getting high off it? wtf internet
That's an exaggeration as far as i can tell you get extremely relaxed for a couple seconds, like that feeling like all your limbs are really weak, and the back of your head and neck tingle in reaction to each sound.
Why are people creeped out by this? It's extremely relaxing.
because if you don't get any positive effects from it you just end up getting weirded out by the whispering and feel like you're about to get molested by the person whispering so close it's like they're inside your ear
i dunno why people are talking about getting high off it, it's seriously just tingles
Yeah, if you don't have it, it's really goddamn creepy. Like a stranger just went up to you and started stroking you.
that is basically it yeah, it feels like there's some random pervy guy gently stroking the back of my hand and it's really fucking uncomfortable.
That doesn't sound good, I usually get gentle tingles down my spine and neck.
Same, but it's still nothing close to what some people have been describing.
i dunno why people are talking about getting high off it, it's seriously just tingles
It is a pleasant sensation though and watching a lot of things that cause it also are just generally relaxing and let you escape.
This definitely does relax me, and I don't feel nearly as weirded-out as other people claim to be. I think the best example of this came from that headphone "barbershop" audio clip. It's just the simplicity of the noises combined with sitting back and relaxing that makes you feel all happy/tingly. Closing eyes helps too. The scissors/bag over head part of the barbershop one really get me. If you're sitting up, stressed, watching this without trying to relax at all, it won't work at all. It's just relaxation aid in my view.
Not entirely sure it's the same, but i get tingling sensations travelling from by head to toes whenever i listen to my epic orchestral music. Not sure how people get it from those videos. Some music does it almost constantly, until i have listened to it for a while. Legend of Grimrock theme is the latest to cause it. It never fails.
I don't get this.
Wow, for years I've wondered if there was a name for this. I can easily do this by will, and until now I assumed everyone could feel it. I use it in several scenarios, whether to give myself an extra push into falling asleep or to relax myself into euphoria. It's fucking amazing, in summary.
Frisson's a similar, but different feeling. That "epic" tingly feeling you get from music or videos that makes you want to go punch a bear in the jaw is Frisson. I've heard of ASMR a few times and I've just associated it with a pleasant feeling that you get when listening to simple sounds and soft voices, and you just relax and take in the sound. I can get it just from sitting outside and listening intently to wind in trees and stuff. These work for me too.

I've been getting this for years and I never knew it had a name. Huh. My only trigger seems to be certain songs, this is one that gets me an ASMR nearly every time I listen to it:
Frisson's a similar, but different feeling.
I do get this one. The Rohan charge in Return of the King usually works for me.
I get it just from thinking about it.
You can do this yourself, through the 'sheer force of will' she explained, except you kinda need to know what it is, in order to 'seek' it. And it's not a kinda 'roll outta bed' happiness either. It's not even a 'yay my football team won' kinda happiness. It's like a 'I'm on fucking drugs right now' happiness except without the drugs.
I think I felt something like this before, except I was just in a really good mood. Though it only happens on rainy days for me. :v:
From my experience, it feels like a slow release of natural endorphins.
this seems sorta reasonable, but I dont really need like any soft whispering or anything to trigger this, i can just sorta do it randomly, white noise helps i suppose. i have always had really good control of the neurochemicals in my body , I can pretty effectively trigger any little thing like this, as scope was talking about earlier you can make yourself feel high for whole days if you would like, but it is a little strange. it is fun to experiment with controlling your own like emotional perspective i suppose.
From my experience, it feels like a slow release of natural endorphins.
It's like your mind just orgasms suddenly
I just feel so stupid whilst watching this
It's like your mind just orgasms suddenly
Yeah it's like brain masturbation
I just feel so stupid whilst watching this
I get relaxed by it but I can't help but feel autistic while watching
ASMR is amazing, I remember as a kid I would watch Bob Ross or some other shows where people paint stuff and it was the most amazing feeling ever, enough to put me to sleep. It's kind of unfortunate for some people who aren't able to get the whole ASMR thing, because it's fucking amazing.
Never heard of ASMR before and guessed it was 'Anal Sex Magic Rainbows" boy was I wrong.
I have no idea what it is, but when other people sing in real life, it makes me feel like I snorted some coke and gives me the intense feeling of needing to destroy something. I don't have any anger related to it, and I don't ever feel angry at the person who was singing, I just have this urge to break or destroy some object. Not really related, but I have always wondered why this is.
That's not what ASMR is, when I get it it, it's like the back of my head is being massaged, and some other stuff I can't quite explain. [editline]1st August 2012[/editline] This video triggers it quite well for me.
That's frisson, if I recall correctly. I have never had ASMR, and the videos just make me feel really uncomfortable. :v: However frisson gets me all the time, especially in music.
So that's what it's called. I also get that all the time from music. I still don't know If I've had an ASMR, but it feels like I probably haven't.
Holy shit I had no idea what this was, then I watched that video with the cotton balls and my whole head starting buzzing. Now my entire body is tingling.
I just tried watching all the videos and I have come to the conclusion that you are a fucking weirdo if you think this shit is relaxing because it is at best extremely boring and at worst scary and unnerving.
