Internet Armageddon: Internet to be out of IP addresses within weeks

Something tells me the DNS needs to just randomly generate new spaces in IPs. Any protocol that doesn't have this will pretty much be fucked in a couple of years into the future with the mass use of the internet.
Plus I fucking hate all those damned agencies that just take random domain names, should be illegal to do that. Hope we switch to IPv6 soon, got all my infos ready, bring it on.
Many programs that won't get updated will be fucked. The old ones I mean. So prepare to update a lot of your software.
Also does steam support ipv6?
These
'What you need, when you need it'
sites are really fucking pissing me off.
this only means we are out of unregistered IPv4 addresses, most ISP's have assloads of them

Exactly man, this shit's terrible.
NAT routing on that level usually fucks a little with the internet.
Though they do that some places.
W-NAT or WAT
Where the fuck is my IPv6?
Where the fuck is my IPv6?
Held hostage by the ISP's
Where the fuck is my IPv6?
most ISP's have an IPv6 DHCP, but most routers don't support it

My problem, is that the cable/adsl modems they rent out doesn't support IPv6
Even a shitty Linksys WRT54G Version 1.1 with DD-wrt as firmware supports IPv6
Sacrifice virgin IP's! For Allah!

I bet you're a virgin... you're on FP after all.
They won't get my 127.0.0.1!
Once all the IPv4 addresses have been used up, nothing will suddenly 'break'. We can still access the websites with no problems.

Hurr Durr, people on FP don't get sex. I bet you call people virgins just to boost your little virgin penis.

I love how someone makes a joke and then you try to offend them in a totally unrelated topic.
You silly little virgin

Woah this is heavy. I guess there will be a lot happening in the following weeks than.
Even though it's a problem I still find it interesting how they will handle it.
Yeah but this has been known for years and still no one has bothered to try to make the switch.
My mind was blown when I read this story last week and it said this November. I suddenly remembered (and found) all the news stories from the past 4 years saying "IPs will run out in Late 2011".
I wonder if the people responsible for handing out blocks of IPs ill take back unused IPs and try to reuse them?
In my opinion I think part of the problem is how easy it is to get an entire block's of IPs.
Hopefully many people (ISPs and hosts etc) will take part in "IPv6 Day" (http://www.ipv6day.org/) and start to switch.
(Also: You can see if you can view IPv6 only content using this little testing thing http://test-ipv6.com/ . My ISP doesn't support it yet by the looks of it, I hope they do before the internet is forced to use it)
Well back to static IP.
:awesome:

Gentlemen... It's been an honour playing with you tonight.
good GOD! i'll be forced to have a life!
Come on, WHY DON'T WE SWITCH TO IPv6 NOW? Stupid ISPs.
Come on, WHY DON'T WE SWITCH TO IPv6 NOW? Stupid ISPs.
Because it is not as simple as flicking a switch it seems.

If you'd bother to read the thread then you'd see that there are a lot of devices that can't simply suddenly start accepting IPv6. If the IP addresses do run out then the ISPs will undoubtedly get their shit in gear, they're not going to let the internet drop suddenly.

They should probably hurry up, theres only 7 blocks left to given to the people who give IP's out.
Although according to this prediction http://www.potaroo.net/tools/ipv4/ allocatable IP's will run out on the 12th of October so they still have a bit of time to get it sorted.
I feel sorry for the people who are going to have to explain to the mass of people who don't understand this why they are having to have hardware upgraded and things changed.
Why don't they just make a new internet? Like Internet server 2.
So the internets won't run out of memory.
My ISP supports it, but my university doesn't :saddowns:
