Just allow zoo's and these parks to sell ivory. You can cut off the tusks or rhino horns without hurting the animal at all. That would acomplish a few things. It will satisfy the market to an extent, prices can probably be reduced to undercut poachers profit, and a whole lot of elephants would be walking around with small and stubby tusks which would not be worth as much.

There are actually nerves running within the tusks. It isn't as easy as just cutting them off. It would be more like a surgery requiring anesthetics.

It would only work if it was like blood diamonds and made it into the market mixed with the other product so that you couldn't tell what was truly lab grown and what was hacked off an animal
