Yeah I saw that one super hero movie he did and you and I both know that all of his movies will be like that regardless of their content or plot.
Well, at least the film will look good, for the most part.
You guys have awfully high standards.
i'm so fucking sick of this slow-mo man child being attached to every comic adaptation ever
I'm not going to be surprised if Wonder Woman's character gets completely botched.
Zack Snyder's movies are only as good as the scripts he's directing. And David S. Goyer isn't a very good writer.
Most of David S. Goyer's scripts are terrible, really. There are four movies that he has written for that aren't terrible on a script level, and all of those four only have him as a co-writer. The scripts that were written solely by Goyer (The Blade movies, Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance) are mediocre at best (The first two Blade movies worked because of the directors).
Zack Snyder's direction was the least of Man of Steel's problems. It looked really good and the action was outstanding, and there was hardly any of his signature slo-mo indulgence.
Warner Bros. just needs to get better writers for Snyder to work with.
It's like they're trying to destroy any chance of DC movies being good ever again

It sure is pretentious to want a good movie.
justice league is generally pretty lame tbh and im not sure will transfer that well to the big screen
justice league is generally pretty lame tbh and im not sure will transfer that well to the big screen
it could transfer well if, y'know, they actually spent time and effort and directed resources to making quality movies to establish characters and bring them together in a movie after each of those characters have had their own movie, maybe some kind of cinematic universe?
nah, that'd never work.

The original JL DCAU series was pretty good, so I seriously doubt that it cannot transfer well.

So does Marvel studios.

its either the best thing ever or it can burn in Hell
This should be a popcorn movie at least. I'ld be lying if I said I wouldn't watch it.
For example, look at man of steel. Say what you want about that shit, that action was amazing. I've never seen such a destructive dragonball Z kerfuffle translated into live action before.
A popcorn movie in all likelihood, and I can appreciate that.
i watched the new 300
the movie wasn't good but I liked the fight scenes
man of steel was bad though

what about daredevil
Zack Snyder is good at more or less 1:1 adaptations of comic books and graphic novels, or more accurately, he's really good at bringing the material he's given to life, but give him a bad script and he'll just follow it just as closely as a good script.

Snyder didn't direct the new 300.
I can just feel /co/ seething from here
anywho, I thought Man of Steel was a blast. Not that it was good, but fuck, I've been waiting on a DBZ batshit bananas cape film for ages.

I ALWAYS HATE THAT. Everytime i have to read these kind of comments "it was a blast, enjoyed it a lot, good time! BUT ITS NOT GOOD."
Not because a film isnt deeeep as fuck or makes you wonder about every aspect of your life it means it fails as a movie. Its superman, they thought about making it that way, great action sequences, not boring at all, and good performances of the characters.
If you enjoyed it, and it was what you were expecting, wheres the fail of the film?
I enjoyed, it i can honestly say i got what i was expecting, im not going to say its an excelent film, but its a GOOD movie. It did what it wanted to do, and thats it.
Ehhh after Watchmen I'm not too worried. I have some disagreements on certain scenes, character portrayals, etc. but it was a solid adaptation. I fucking love Billy Crudup's delivery as Dr. Manhattan when he confronts [sp]Veidt[/sp]. I have hope.
If you completely rely on some film critic website to tell you whether you enjoy a movie or not you probably have the self awareness of a retard exploring their first boner. I don't get the bandwagon hate for this guy, I enjoyed his films.
Nobody is saying you have to rely on it to tell if you are enjoying it or not.
Somebody asked if he's a good director. The critic rating gives you a good idea, as devoid of subjectivity as it can get.
So does Marvel studios.
That's funny if you think Scarlet Johansson kicking things for two hours and three hours of One-Liner-Machines quipping about each other and talking about a tesseract are "high standards"

I suppose it's just different matters on what constitutes 'good'. While I won't say anything for the plot or the holes within, I do have to say, it was excellently casted. Space Dad and Zod were golden for every moment they were on. I'd even go to say that Shannon's Zod is Ledger-tier villain casting.
Oh, and I've taken to ignoring what the critics say about the movie. When you look at them, it's painfully clear that a good chunk of them are pissy about 'not muh Donner Superman'.

stop, my invincible son.
lmao this thread just makes me realize how much of a fucking trainwreck it would be for any facepunch member to try and direct a major motion picture
but oh no a director must be shit on just because you didn't like a few of his movies. gg well done

'wow you guys how dare you criticise a director just because you don't like the films he makes'
I'm sorry, what other criteria are you supposed to judge a director on?
but oh no a director must be shit on just because you didn't like a few of his movies. gg well done
You're absolutely right. Just because a filmmaker makes bad films, doesn't mean he's a bad filmmaker, it just makes his critics a bunch of children and haters.
100% rational thought.
This is going to sound weird, but my biggest problem with Man of Steel is that they focused too much on Superman and not Clark Kent. I think it would have been cool seeing Clark going from town to town, getting small jobs here and there. I would have also have liked some personality from Clark. Instead he was a stern, bland character. For instance, Iron Man had a lot of Tony Stark in it. We got to know the character under the suit, and Tony was funny, interesting, and was realistic in the way he acted. I also have a few fundamental problems with the character Superman, that probably got in my way of enjoying the film.
