Newsweek published an article in which they presumable have uncovered the person who made Bitcoin. Sadly however there way of publishing this is beyond believe :suicide: It was told ago he wanted to stay anonymous but now Newsweek is threatening this mans and family by publishing everything from pictures to city and what not. Just beyond believe. Source: http://mag.newsweek.com/2014/03/14/bitcoin-satoshi-nakamoto.html Edit: i have some disagrees, what is wrong? ill correct this then :)
it's beyond belief also tbf if you use your real name you're bound to eventually get discovered
He's not Satoshi, and these people should feel bad for doxing an innocent family.
I always thought Satoshi Nakamoto was just an alias used by a group of several people.
Apparently the article also used to include a picture of his house including his car's license plate.
The person that wrote that article is the worst type of human being. I don't care if that person is Satoshi or not it is seriously scummy to basically dox someone like this.

What are you on about I've never visited this site before
Nothing in that article even proves that he's actually the supposed person. Although that could be expected from a magazine which ran an article "proving the existence of Heaven". Most likely it's just a story they made up in order to create publicity for their relaunched print edition of Newsweek. Pretty low for them to dox a person in order to do that.
So basically this article is the journalist harassing a guy who she thinks made bitcoin, and poking her nose into his personal life?
What are you on about I've never visited this site before
You need to disable Noscript or similar plugins.
Someone should write 'the face behind the face of bitcoin' so she knows how having your private live invaded feels
Someone should write 'the face behind the face of bitcoin' so she knows how having your private live invaded feels
she's an investigative journalist you think this is the first time she's gotten yelled at by random people
Someone should write 'the face behind the face of bitcoin' so she knows how having your private live invaded feels
And then she answers "Everything published was all public information anyways"
this guy and his family's lives are in danger thanks to a dumb journalist
I see no reason not to believe this guy isn't the guy who made bitcoin unless the entire article is fake. He pretty much admitted to being the guy in the article considering all the evidence. Its fucking awful though that the person behind the article would put a face and and address with his liscense plate in full view with a picture of his house though. I mean, fucking really? This is the guy who is in control of the genesis blocks (aka the first bitcoin blocks/wallets ever made) and who has hundreds of millions of dollars worth of bitcoin in his possession. Its widely believed that if any movement were to happen in these blocks, that have been assumed to be forever lost, it would tank the market. And newsweek just gave his entire address, house and identitiy away. The least they could do was keep the pictures of his house and exact town he lived in anonymous.
Someone should write 'the face behind the face of bitcoin' so she knows how having your private live invaded feels
you're right! that's really the mature thing to do!
this guy and his family's lives are in danger thanks to a dumb journalist
I'm not really sure I understand...? couldn't anyone have done this? I thought the bitcoin community has been trying to figure this out for ages.

Guys sorry if i ask. Does the OP represent the story in a good way or did i make some mistakes while posting it? Don't know if the disagrees are for my typing or the story. :)
I know next to nothing about the way Bitcoin works, what exactly is it about the genesis blocks that would cause them to be so volatile to everything else?
I assume it could mean that he would sell all his Bitcoins and that would basically crash the whole Bitcoin economy. Even if he didn't everyone would think he might sell his Bitcoins and sell their Bitcoins and also crashing the whole market.

Personally I don't believe the person in the article is actually the Satoshi Nakamoto. He could prove it either by signing a message with either his PGP key or one of the Bitcoin addresses linked with the earliest mined coins that have yet to be moved, such as this one. Otherwise any person with interest in cryptography and/or mathematics could claim to be Satoshi Nakamoto.
Satoshi Nakamoto? I thought that guy was dead
I know next to nothing about the way Bitcoin works, what exactly is it about the genesis blocks that would cause them to be so volatile to everything else?
I can't remember the exact details, but it just has to do mostly with speculation. The genesis blocks haven't been touched since their inception in 2008-09 or so, and a lot of eyes are keeping track of it at all times. The moment activity happens there, people are going to wonder why the first bitcoins made are being moved around, if they are being sold or not, etc. Generally, its not a positive reaction. If Satoshi sold his bitcoins it would literally make the value of BTC worthless overnight by volume alone. This guy holds a lot of weight and power in the market and has been pretty much off the radar since 2011 to the point where people weren't even sure he was a real person. Activity in the first blocks created by Satoshi would really shake things up. [editline]6th March 2014[/editline]
Guys sorry if i ask. That said ratings are for the article not you
basically the way pricing works whoever SN is, be it this guy or not, he has the equivalent of 400 million USD in BTC problem is though, once you sell 1 million USD equiv, you've now devalued BTC against USD, as there's more in the market, so now what was 399million USD, is now more like 389million usd. now you sell another million equiv, now that stockpile goes down to 379, all while pushing the price of bitcoin down for everyone else
