well actually if every single apple product disappeared tomorrow a lot of companies and people would be fucked
also as stated above you're right it doesnt make them more important but it still makes them RICH AS FUCK aka the goal of a company
Most (if not all) of those Apple products have viable alternatives, though I can't say the same about something like Windows. Linux isn't accessible enough for the average user and most people can't afford Macs (not to mention there are certain things you can't do on them).
edit: We'd probably be screwed without Google as well, can you imagine the entire world being forced to use Bing? We'd be fucked.

e-ink is great when you're reading fiction, but when reading a textbook in school it's a pain in the ass.

ok how about all of the apple products already placed in big time corporations and companies and shit like NASA (and google too)
Yeah, if you stamp out all competition and form a monopoly your stock is going to increase in value. Who would have thunk?
What competition did they stamp out?
What monopoly did they create?
Am I the only one who thinks actually having a book is much better than reading it on a PC/iPad? Not only is better on the eyes, but it's much easier to flip pages etc.
Plus I don't want to have to turn off the book every time I'm done with it.
ok how about all of the apple products already placed in big time corporations and companies and shit like NASA (and google too)
Like I said, there are viable alternatives to those. Last I checked there wasn't any sort of "iNASA" software which is exclusive to Macs. The ones being used are NASA at most likely personal business computers.

Can someone explain to me what relevance this image has to the article? I'm confused.
My textbooks cost 800 euro's a year. Thats almost a thousand dollars.
each year.
Imagine how much I would save if I could get cheaper versions of them on an ipad?
What.
Aren't they reused?
What competition did they stamp out?

For one there is the whole charger/periferals thing, their patent on rounded edges(and the whole patent trolling war), their conflict with Adobe and the non-reparability of their products(change battery? no, it's glued)
They are creating artificial monopolies and more important: They sell their PC's as something different than a PC when it's really just a different OS they are using.

Its relevant in every way.
Plus I don't want to have to turn off the book every time I'm done with it.
What do you mean "turn off the book"? If you mean clicking the off button, that's about as much hassle as closing a physical book. It saves the page for you too, making it arguably more convenient than a book.

wrong actually
for years they were the only company to offer a laptop with a unibody, a non-TN LCD panel, and a low profile, thin laptop
I am not exxagerating with the years part, like just now are non-Mac laptops with unibodies, non-TN LCD panels, and thinness coming out, and they cost as much as a Macbook Pro, without the hardware optimizations...
You know why MS is making their own tablet? Cause they know the days of OEMs are numbered, DELL is moving to servers, HP is stumbling on what it wants to do, Samsung has non-PC divisions
pay attention guys

Kindles are good on the eyes and easy to flip through and read. They're great.

Also I find myself having it harder getting used to reading books again after reading one on the iPad. This should be taken into considiration when theyre used in schools IMO.
