In Virginia, I believe we're allowed to own fully automatic weapons. I'm not to sure just yet.
If we are, I'm probably going to try and buy a Galil when I get home tomorrow.
Around here (Mississippi,) all you need is a tax stamp. Same for suppressors.
i hope they are happy with their gifts and had a nice christmas
I think I and you, we both know that modifying semiautomatic to automatic is a 10 minute job for many many semi-auto rifles.
Incredible how much stupid can be crammed in 23 words.
And full auto M16s cost like 8k on the low end.
the absolute cheapest way to get into automatic AR15s is to buy a cheapo AR with a low-wall receiver (which costs about $800 minimum) and get a drop in auto sear, which last I checked were going for around $11000
i hope they are happy with their gifts and had a nice christmas
Ezhik, you're a hedgehog. You can't shoot a gun with your little hedgehog hands.

if you can turn a semi-automatic rifle into an automatic rifle, you can turn a pipe into an automatic rifle. The internals are completely different in an automatic.
Jesus that dumbass in the first picture, this is why people hate guns.
Because the stigma around guns spawned completely from people posing with them while making silly faces.
Guns as a whole exist to kill people. Drills exist to put holes in inanimate objects.

Why are people rating this dumb? It's true.
it's false. It's the .223/5.56x45 cartridge that's disallowed for hunting. AR15s can be chambered in about a hundred other cartridges that are perfectly legal for hunting in Georgia.

Mate, the only way to make a semi-auto go full-auto is by pulling the trigger fast as fucking hell.
It only fires as fast as you pull the trigger, you twit. Its inner workings are completely different from those of a fully-automatic weapon.
if they were bans on deadliness, the big bolt-action hunting rifles would be the ones getting banned.
and 22 calibre weapons and the like. A 22 calibre will stand a better chance of killing you than a 45.

Hmm, I'm not quite sure, but something gives me the feeling that you have no fucking idea of what you're talking about.
and 22 calibre weapons and the like. A 22 calibre will stand a better chance of killing you than a 45.
not necessarily, not with .22LR at least. With 5.7 or .223 though, yeah a .22 caliber projectile will kill you faster than a .45 ACP

That and the fact that the semis tend to have a shitty barrel (like this SKS right here) on them that will banana even if you do manage to convert it to fully auto.
Also, the best way to achieve the effects of a fully automatic rifle while the rifle is semi auto, is learning to bump fire. They even sell a special stock that does it all for you for AR variants. The kicker? The ATF approves of it.
Ezhik, you're a hedgehog. You can't shoot a gun with your little hedgehog hands.
yeah, just keep living your lies. i'm sure you'll reconsider it when the hedgehogs come invading.
Damn, I'm not sure I if can call it ninja'd at this point.

OH GODDAMNIT

To anyone reading and wondering why this is the case, it's because lighter rounds with less momentum tend to bounce around if you're hit in the abdominal cavity, whereas higher calibre rounds with greater momentum tend to make a clean entry and exit.

Slidefires are incredibly inaccurate and turn an otherwise reliable gun into a piece of junk
I know personally i plan on buying an AKM at some point in the future. Not for home defense or anything of that sort, but to take to a range and shoot. I quite like AK's. There's something magical about Kalashnikov's, brilliantly simply and historic engineering.
I would never dream of using it as a home defense weapon though. For a home defense weapon i'd actually use a .22 pistol.

I wouldn't doubt it. But who cares about accuracy in a "rampage violence" situation? I think these things need to go, tbh.

I recommend an AK type chamberred for .410 shotgun. A great round for home defense, and it looks scary to boot. I'd never use a rifle round for home defense, ever. Dat penetration factor, son.
Also, a Taurus Judge can fire 410's out of the box.

Actually, it's because the long and light rounds keyhole (that is, turn sideways) on impact. The permanent wound cavity will be as big as the projectile is long

if I were getting an AK shotgun I'd get a Saiga 12 over a Saiga .410. .410 is worthless as a self-defense round

You don't have to kill to defend yourself, you just have to neutralize.

I'm pretty sure if you were shot with a 410, you'd be neutralized as fuck.

I'd rather a low velocity round that won't do MASSIVE damage to a person but is threatening enough that i could maybe shoot off a warning shot. The last thing i want to do is shoot the person invading my home, that's only if it's absolutely necessary in a life/death situation. Better to maim/ incapacitate than kill.
EDIT:
Yes i'm aware of the bouncing.

Considered nonlethal alternatives?
Guns as a whole exist to kill people. Drills exist to put holes in inanimate objects.
This is a really dumb argument why do people keep using it like you've just found some trump card in gun debate lmao.
Lots of things aren't used for their original purpose, and really if you want to play this game, cars are used as something of a necessity in modern life for transport. Yet they kill far more people every goddamn week than guns do in months.
Considered nonlethal alternatives?
With a gun there's still the shock value of "holy shit i have a gun pointed at me"
If that doesn't work i can still fire it as a warning.
I can't really do that with a taser or stungun.
That and they do bounce.
only really low velocity ones like .22LR, and even then it won't bounce much. the whole "bounce around inside your head" thing was an old wives tale years ago based on the fact that they fragment and tear up a lot more meat than you'd ever expect them to

Bah, with a taser just fire and be done. Fucker ought not be there in the first place. You may not be able to get one in your area though, or you may require a special permit which may or may not involve you being shot with one yourself.

I was thinking more of bouncing inside the abdominal cavity off of ribs. But I don't doubt it could be an old wive's tale.
Better to maim/ incapacitate than kill.
there is no such thing as shooting to maim, I wish people would stop perpetuating this term
A bullet anywhere is deadly and a bullet that doesn't kill could come back and sue your ass later.
In a self defense situation, always shoot to kill. An intruder never has your best interest in mind.

In the head was how the myth started, in the chest is a fairly recent variant of the myth

I like to think it's because cars were originally designed to transport people, but they had the horrible side effect of killing people. Guns were designed to kill people but were adapted into a common interest and hobby.
Point is, just because something was made for one purpose doesn't mean it can't become multi purpose.
