Eventually they'll just patent quadrilateral electronics.
Eventually they'll just patent electronics. Then selling things.
The USPTO should just close forever. They aren't doing their jobs properly.
God damn Apple, just patent being a massive douche while you're at it.
People shouldn't be mad at Apple for successfully patenting bullshit like this. It's only business for them. Be mad at the patenting office for allowing them to succeed.
I will vote for the first presidential candidate to call for patent (and 'intellectual property') reform. Even if he's a hideous extra-dimensional space monster who lives in a death-like slumber in his lost city far beneath the Pacific Ocean.
This is hilarious. Lawsuits ahoy! I think every laptop manufacturer has made at least ONE macbook air clone at some point since that macbook air was announced in 2008. It is not the biggest deal either. As I said in another thread, there are plenty of awesome thin laptop designs that do not involve wedges. oh and Voodoo did some good stuff before HP ate it also sorry if you hate orange
It's not fair to compare Apple to Orange.
The USPTO should just close forever. They aren't doing their jobs properly.
It's because we cut their funding they have to accept all of these patents to keep from bankruptcy
Damn our patent website is uglyyy.
BREAKING NEWS: NATURE PATENTS APPLE [t]http://www.thijsberman.pvda.nl/binaries/content/gallery/thijsberman/z/zure_appel.jpg/zure_appel.jpg/hippogallery%3Apicture[/t] MORE AT 11
This is stupid. Not only shouldn't it be able to patent a shape, but no-one should be able to patent anything that's already widely in use by other companies. This whole injunction stuff is stupid, because if Apple gets an injunction against a wedged shaped laptop I was going to buy, it doesn't mean I'm going to buy the apple alternative. However, I can't think this wouldn't have happened if some manufactures hadn't ripped off Apple design wholesale. Also, whilst I think this is stupid, I also am not so much a fan of wedge shaped laptops so would be happy to see some more on the market (not so happy by these means though). I think one of the reasons the wedge is so hot is because it can be used to make a laptop look thinner than it is. For example with creative camera angles you can make a laptop which is 6mm thick but tapers to two look thinner than a 5mm thick laptop that doesn't taper.
This just in: Apple patents apple, isaac newton sued
Apple patents duct tape, now requiring all consumers to get a hired technician to fix connection problems on iPhone 4.
Colours are trademarked/copyrighted. you can't use Coke Red. You can't use Tiffany Blue. at least not commercially without giving them money. The list does go on. I won't be surprised if Apple trademarks a specific white.
False. You are free to use Coke Red so long as you don't use it on another brand of coke etc. Colors are not copyrighted nor trademarked, the use of one specific shade of color on one specific product (and only if the color has nothing to do with the product, for example if you use a shade of blue on a products packaging to give off a sense of "coolness", that is perfectly legal even if it is the same shade as another same product by a different manufacturer, in the case of coke red this is not the case since the color red has nothing to do with coke per sé) can however be part of your trademark.
Aand a quick search on google later [thumb]http://www.notebookcheck.net/typo3temp/pics/0ecaabbd7c.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://cdn.mos.techradar.com//Review%20images/TechRadar/Computing/Asus%20zenbook%20UX31/ASUS%20ZENBOOK%204-580-100.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://photos.pcpro.co.uk/images/front_picture_library_PC_Pro/dir_270/it_photo_135496_52.jpg[/thumb]

Second one is getting nuked to hell and back [editline]8th June 2012[/editline] Asus and Acer tend to "inspire" themselves from other products, while Samsung and Lenovo design creative laptops.
let's hope they don't get to patent flat, rectangular screens in computers next
I don't really know a whole lot about laws & patents, but apple's patent looks very very broad from what I can tell; so wouldn't it possibly be voided because designs that violate the patent were already in wide production prior to it being claimed?
Aren't the Acer ultrabooks like this? [editline]8th June 2012[/editline] Oh yeah, second picture above...
Aren't the Acer ultrabooks like this? [editline]8th June 2012[/editline] Oh yeah, second picture above...
yeah there's a new version of it coming out called the asus zenbook prime it's so fucked, shame too since it's beautiful and has great specs
Well ASUS, HP, Dell, Intel, etc. Should all appeal that shit.
If Intel gets mad, hoo boy it ain't gonna be pretty.
They're going to slap Apple's shit to hell and back.
Eventually they'll just patent quadrilateral electronics.
I'm surprised they haven't patented laptops and cellphones completely by now.
I shall patent douchebaggery so apple can pay me royalties.
Why do those people even allow Apple to make all these patents
Because you have to pay the patent office to get a patent. Previously, this was government funded. But now, the more patents they accept, the more money they get. So once again, everything they see right now is $$$ and doesn't always give a shit about what patent it is.
Bitch please, Sony has had wedge laptops out years before apples tripe.

Fuck patents.
patents are patents you fucking commie scum. go back to soviet russia if you want to steal other peoples ip.
