Don't you just hate Apple and their new spree of patenting stuff? I dunno how this sort of stuff is allowed.
Oh right, I forgot that we're living in the year 2022.
apple have patented math too, you cant do shit correctly or youll get sued
God Apple has seriously gone down the shitter since Jobs died
So yeah, They stick last years tech in it, paint it white, stick an apple to it, And boom you've made £1000 a piece.
the other day in an apple patent thread I was considering posting "I honestly wouldn't be surprised if I woke up tomorrow and they patented rectangles with rounded edges," decided not to because that's just an overreaction, right? I want to sign a petition or e-mail someone or firebomb a place or SOMETHING to get them to stop
Would be funny if every single Facepunch member sued them at the same time for "Being assholes".
But are these restricted to specific countries or worldwide? Because that is just ridiculous.
Like someone mentioned above, what he said was technically untrue. In the Coke example, you could use the same shade they use to advertise Coke as long as it wasnt on a cola product, but in the case of things where the colour is directly related to the product, its free game. Same goes for logos. Companies can have a similar logo to a trademarked one as long as they arent selling the same kind of products. There have been various trademark disputes between Apple Computer and Apple Corps over the years because of their similar names/logos, but Apple Computer began to edge towards the music industry which Apple Corps didnt like (Because it was their business) *EDIT* Oh, realised they arent patenting the wedge design itself, but their metallic finishes in combination with the design. I was going to say, surely they cant patent the wedge design after other companies already have products with it out on the market.
Would be funny if every single Facepunch member sued them at the same time for "Being assholes".
It would be really easy to prove in court that they are Assholes.
Apple, just go rot in hell. You fucking suck at everything.
I was looking forward to this, too.
I was looking forward to this, too.
Well, you can't have it now since Apple is preventing people from making shit.
When is Apple going to realize they earn enough income without having to sue people left and right? People eat right out their hands and worship their devices, yet they still feel like they gotta make even more money so they feel the need to find as many ways to sue people as possible.
This just in: Apple patents apple, isaac newton sued
Newton was a bad businessman! He should have patented gravity so we'd all need to pay to be allowed to be affected by it. Gravity tax. Doesn't sound like the worst income source.
If this patent causes more pretty laptops like the Voodoo Envy 133. Then I will go for it. Prettiest laptop ever.

Also let's have a moment of silence for Voodoo. RIP
Apple patents "skinny design". I blame Apple for America's obesity.
How can you even patent something someone else has already done!?
People shouldn't be mad at Apple for successfully patenting bullshit like this. It's only business for them. Be mad at the patenting office for allowing them to succeed.
That's like saying we shouldn't be mad at the bully for beating up a kid, but rather be mad at the kid for letting him beat him up. The patent office is obviously incompetent, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be angry at Apple for being complete cunts and abusing the fuck out of it.

This is their fuck up, among many others.
No because it's literally the Patenting Office's job to filter through reasonable and unreasonable patents. This is their fuck up, among many others.
Apple is the bully, we're the victims, and the patent office is an authority figure. Instead of stopping the bullying, the patent office is cheering it on and getting paid every time Apple knocks one of our teeth out. Yeah, that's bad, but it wouldn't be a problem at all in the first place if Apple was punished. Fuck both of them equally.
Forget making decent products: instead take a dump, spray it with gold and just sue any other company responsible for making a good alternative. Brilliant business plan right there. I'm still curious as to why other companies don't do anything about this.
"This just in, apple patents the colour white from being used in any products."
In other news, Apple has patented Technology
I believe Samsung's Series 9 is all wedge, super powerful, thin, but much cheaper alternatives to the Air. Somebody needs to smack Apple upside the head with a devastating lawsuit.
I would rather have no patents. Ideas should be free or others to modify and improve. (IMO)
False. You are free to use Coke Red so long as you don't use it on another brand of coke etc. Colors are not copyrighted nor trademarked, the use of one specific shade of color on one specific product (and only if the color has nothing to do with the product, for example if you use a shade of blue on a products packaging to give off a sense of "coolness", that is perfectly legal even if it is the same shade as another same product by a different manufacturer, in the case of coke red this is not the case since the color red has nothing to do with coke per sé) can however be part of your trademark.
I said commercially, did I not? Try using tiffany blue or coke red in an advertisement, try putting Ferrari yellow on a car in an add unless you're ferrari.
nobody's made a wedgie joke yet? [editline]9th June 2012[/editline]
I would rather have no patents. Ideas should be free or others to modify and improve. (IMO)
have fun nothing being ever invented
The people in the patent office must be the kind of folks who need tech support when they can't log into their email because the website changed.
I said commercially, did I not? Try using tiffany blue or coke red in an advertisement, try putting Ferrari yellow on a car in an add unless you're ferrari.
Nowhere in my post do I make a distinction between commercially and non-commercially, so I don't really see your point.
