I don't think anyone pregnant would steal to enrich themselves, I think it's an act of desperation and survival.
He shouldn't have killed her. She surrendered and was trying to get away, but he straight out murdered her and her child. That's just evil on all accounts. Whenever I hear shit like this, I think of the alternate reality where she atones for her crimes, and works her way to becoming a good mother. I've seen it happen. And that child... another life full of potential wasted just because someone had a lust for blood. Everyone approving of the guy's actions make me sick. Seriously, what is wrong with you people? Too much focus on punishment, not enough on rehabilitation. Everyone's perfectly fine when criminals are sent to die or be tortured or raped. They completely dehumanize them, forget that they're capable of being reformed... and that just leads to more violence and crime.
except this isn't the first time his house was broken into and she was lying about the pregnancy. and what the fuck are you talking about, 3/4 of this thread is condemning what this guy did.

It's pretty much a non-point in the whole thing. He keeps getting broken into? Well that sucks, but if he keeps getting burgled he should probably be actually trying to get the police to do their fucking job. Taking justice into your own hands in a way like this is never justifiable. So what she lied about a pregnancy? So what she burgled him? She wasn't actively trying to harm in by the time he shot her, she'd stopped being a threat.
I knew she was bluffing.
Just a heads up, this is the LAPD, one of the most incompetent corrupt organizations in the US, they aren't going to do shit unless he's rich, famous, or some combination of the two.
Fuck you guys really need to fix that shit. If you ever want the quality of life to improve for lower classes, they need to be able to actually trust law enforcers and government officials in general to treat them equally.
I knew she was bluffing.
double-tapping unarmed burglars to mentally destabilize people is a lot like playing cards

Seriously though I think you will find the average american has a distrust for the police. I can't count on them being right there when im in danger and if you live in a city like LA response times are probably really poor. You can't expect a citizen to behave to the same standards as a police officer so in the heat of the moment I can see why the guy chased the girl into the alley.
The Reginald Denny case proved beyond any shadow of a doubt the police don't have your back. The police will always do what's best for the police, if that happens to match what's best for you then you just got lucky. If you are counting on the police to save your ass then you are setting yourself up to be very disappointed one day. Unless you're wealthy, but that doesn't count since the wealthy own the law.
They deserved being shot at, however, he should not have shot to kill. They showed no sign of being armed and he should have grazed or injured them and then called police.

None of this grazing or injuring shit.
It's noble to believe everyone can be rehabilitated, to believe that everyone should get a second or third or fourth or fifth chance. We have to be realistic though. There IS such a thing as habitual criminals. There is also such a thing as crimes that really, really piss people off. That's why if you're a habitual criminal caught committing a crime that is really, really pissing someone off and you get wasted by the victim, don't look for sympathy from those of us who are sick of that shit.
...Well, I came from a background where.. well, let's just say someone important to me used to be a criminal. A certain family member. She spent years rehabilitating herself to get her kids back from foster care, and she's had a clean record since. She has her kids back, and it's been over a decade now, and she finally got everything together and has a successful life and a job and everything. Her kids are teenagers now, looking into getting into college. So yeah. I know it can be done. Everyone has the potential. Culling criminals with violence isn't the only solution, you know. It kinda makes me sad to see such little value placed in human life, and justification of killing people. I know they've made mistakes, but they're still human. Not to say I don't think people should defend themselves, but going all vigilante when the woman was clearly not a threat, and deciding to chase her down and end her life, is wrong, and it's sick that people approve of what this guy did.
