The Israelis have nothing to gain from randomly killing civilians, as each dead civilian increases the risk against Israeli civilians. If Israel was trying to purge the Palestinian population (which is obviously retarded), they would be killing in the hundreds of thousands, not hundreds. The IDF is careless in their killing of civilians, but they aren't fucking Nazis. White Phosphorous, by the way, isn't deployed as a weapon, it's basically an extremely effective smoke grenade. As a mortar it's pointlessly weak and random. A 15 year old kid getting hit by WP is tragic, but not indicative of Israeli strategy.

Strawman - I don't remember saying that at all. Generally, when people are shelled, the shell back. Surely Hamas would absolve even the /slightest/ ounce of responsibility for executing combat operations amongst their own people, fully aware of the return fire? Yes they would - in fact, I'm sure that their positioning is /deliberate/ so that they may play the victim when civilians are killed as a result of their callousness. This isn't going to turn into one of those "well Hamas only has small mortars and have only killed a couple of people how dare Israel fight back with greater force" lines, is it? Finally, that wasn't even the point. My point is that I do not believe the war was "set up to kill as many civilians as possible", that's a load of rubbish.
