If Trump were impeached, would he merely lose his seat as President of the United States, or would he get thrown into jail?
If it is found out that Trump actually had ties to Russia and all along, was a Russian puppet, what's the next step? Impeachment? And if that is the next step, can republicans theoretically block all attempts to impeach Trump?
I don't know the exact numbers, but Congress has to have a majority vote in order to impeach, in both the House and the Senate, which the GOP control both of (with the House being a sizable majority). I don't think there's enough die-hard GOP senators in Congress to successfully block it, but I don't think that matters since the House of Representatives will most likely block any impeachment. The House usually has the more conservative leaning GOP members than the Senate.
If Trump were impeached, would he merely lose his seat as President of the United States, or would he get thrown into jail?
Wikipedia has this to say: "Article II of the United States Constitution states in Section 4 that "The President, Vice President, and all civil Officers of the United States shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other High Crimes and Misdemeanors." The House of Representatives has the sole power of impeaching, while the United States Senate has the sole power to try all impeachments" So I guess it would result in prison.
I hope that Trump's approval rating continuing to fall means Congress'll throw his administration to the FBI just to save the GOP's hold on power and this'll actually go somewhere instead of dying in the rain.
I didn't say that, actually, but go ahead and read further into it What I mean is that this is all just some sort of spook tactic to try and make people distrust trump more (as if we need a reason to) and it won't amount to jack tiddly shit. If it does I'll eat a can of chili out of my favorite hat. I really fucking love this beanie too, but I know not a drop of chili will enter it.
I'm pessimistic as well, but toxx?
They wouldn't expend the political capital to save Trump if it became absolutely clear he was compromised They'd gladly take Mike Pence over Trump
I think it's fairly clear that they put Pence as his VP because they assume at some point, Trump will leave office before his term is up one way or another.
IMPEACH IMPEACH IMPEACH IMPEACH IMPEACH. Please for the love of god get that fucking clown/traitor out of the white house.
I maDE a bet with my trumpette parents that he'd not last a year, guess I'm gonna win this bet

If there's anything Republicans hate more than socialism, it's treason.

The old Republican party is dead and gone. This is the Tea party now.
If it does I'll eat a can of chili out of my favorite hat. I really fucking love this beanie too, but I know not a drop of chili will enter it.
Noted. If your President is proven to have committed treason the rest of the world will need to see appropriate action, or confidence in tbe US will plummet. And facepunch will need to see chilli in your headwear.
Case for the kangaroo court coming along nicely, I see.
Case for the kangaroo court coming along nicely, I see.
Got evidence to the contrary, bud? I'd love to see it.
When you ran on the LOCK HER UP movement and now it's looking like a new movement may form. >LOCK HIM UP
And then there was his adviser Al Baldasaro shrieking about how Clinton needed to be put "in the firing line and shot for treason". [t]http://cdn.theatlantic.com/assets/media/img/mt/2016/08/RTX2F0M7/lead_960.jpg?1471390424[/t] Seems like a reputable gent.:v: Like verynicelady said, this is going to be a big deal if it heads towards impeachment, and it's going to set a precedent that will last for probably as long as the United States continues to exist. We need to handle it as seriously as we do harshly.
Assuming he is found guilty, watching Trump spend the rest of his life behind bars or swing from a tree is going to be an exquisite pleasure.
Got evidence to the contrary, bud? I'd love to see it.
What evidence do you have? As Sargon of Akkad has said, there really is no actual evidence; just what is so obviously a carefully controlled "drip drip drip" of vacuous, nonspecific information that only gives the appearance of evidence to those who wish to see it. This will all culminate in a massive, carefully fabricated "revelation" from the intelligence community which will supposedly "show" that Trump committed treason. This revelation will be complete BS but any voices pointing that out will be sidelined, while the MSM will coordinate with the intelligence community to make the coup seem legitimate to the people. Not hard to see what's happening here. This will culminate with Trump's successor accusing Russia of committing an act of war by interfering with the election, which will then lead to the US declaring war in turn... then we all die. But at least Trump won't be President any more.

If you want to know what that evidence is, do watch the five-hour public congressional hearing with Comey and Rogers. If I can find time to do it, so can you. The non-circumstantial evidence, of which there is much, is classified at the moment. Let time be the judge. Just know that if he is charged, I'm going to rub your face in it. Sargon's an idiot and a hack - that you admit you actually watch the guy says much about you. Besides, which, I asked you a question. You don't respond with another question. Where's your evidence, bud?

Clinton becomes President? Nuclear war with Russia imminent. Trump is impeached? Nuclear war with Russia imminent. It's a fucking stretch, man.
My issue with "this senator/representative said this/that" is that the US has so many, and I have too little knowledge of each of them to really appraise the worth of what they're saying. So really, until the evidence is laid out ans Trump is put on trial or whatever, I don't really see a point in engaging with these kinds of statements. Which kind of makes this post useless, I guess - either way, my bet is on Trump not getting impeached during his term. Not toxxing, though.
Assuming he is found guilty, watching Trump spend the rest of his life behind bars or swing from a tree is going to be an exquisite pleasure.
Why everything you gotta say be either extreme as fuck or vaguely pretentious you can say 'i hope trump is punished to the full extent of the law if he's guilty' without saying it would be an 'exquisite pleasure to watch him hang'

If he says he was not induced to hack the Podesta emails by the Russians then I take his word over that of Comey or this Schiff fellow any day of the week. Also I find it funny that you ask me to listen to what Comey has to say, your side was pretty much accusing him of orchestrating a coup to put Trump in power and were arguing that the FBI had lost all credibility, now we should trust what he has to say? Obama was a very different kind of politician than Clinton back then. B. Obama ruined his own reset. C. "extending an olive branch" =/= "we can now do whatever we want and you have no right to stop us" D. Democratic Party has no principles, only really tried to seem dovish on Russia when it would make the Republicans seem like unreasonable warmongers in comparison. E. Democrats don't "want" a nuclear war in and of itself, they're just short-sighted and arrogant enough to start one.
I can't wait for this to turn out to be nothing
Assuming he is found guilty, watching Trump spend the rest of his life behind bars or swing from a tree is going to be an exquisite pleasure.
He will most likely get a pardon if he's found guilty of anything. And if he doesn't, the prison he will be sent to isn't the same prison you or I would go to.

By refusing to pat Putin on the back and say "hey, that's okay we're still buddies" when he annexed Crimea and sent troops into Ukraine, the former being something even Trump admitted was a horrible thing to do? C. I would call axing the plan to create a missile defense shield in Eastern Europe and being the ones to propose a fresh start would fall under the jurisdiction of "extending an olive branch," yes. D. Considering the condemnation of Russia is mostly seen to be a direct result of their actions in Eastern Europe I'd say turning a blind eye to what they did would showcase a greater lack of principles E. I think it's short-sighted and arrogant to insist that you know with this level of certainty how these career politicians are going to act. It would be just as stupid if I said something like "Trump is going to start a war with Mexico, he's stupid enough for it!"
I think it's fairly clear that they put Pence as his VP because they assume at some point, Trump will leave office before his term is up one way or another.
I'm not too familiar with the VP's job in the US but... wouldn't it make more sense that if Trump leaves office (impeachment and such), his cabinet and VP leave as well? I'm asking due to the case that Trump was indeed collaborating with Russia, it'd make sense if Pence was in on it too.
Case for the kangaroo court coming along nicely, I see.
It's impressive how you won't even consider the possibility that trump might be bad
Case for the kangaroo court coming along nicely, I see.
This doesn't really carry any weight when Trump has been categorically proven (usually by himself) to be an impulsive liar.
Case for the kangaroo court coming along nicely, I see.
What law school did you graduate from? I'm curious, because I'd love to know your credentials, considering you've demonstrated yourself to be a lunatic in literally every post you've ever made before now.

After that it follows the line of presidential succession. If, by some incredible turn of events, the entire administration is ousted quickly--including the Cabinet, as you propose--we would most likely see Paul Ryan assume the presidency after a brief constitutional crisis. Could change the order of succession if it causes a big enough stir. That possibility, however, is assuming a myriad of unlikely events. [editline]23rd March 2017[/editline] From my perspective, there is virtually no situation in which we get a Democratic president for this term--barring a full redo of the election, of course. Is that what you were getting at?

I feel that even if irrefutable evidence was provided you'd somehow see it as some illegitimate conspiracy and further entrench yourself. You consistently exhibit textbook cognitive dissonance, like it couldn't be more perfect. The fact you wouldn't even consider by this point that Trump could possibly be in the wrong is scary enough. And I know you're not the only one. Nasty things are gonna happen if Trump gets impeached.
