Racism plays a large role in this. I don't see how that isn't visible to you. Candidates aren't going to say much about race directly, but they'll play the card that he isn't like the rest of the country. However, people, are saying a LOT about race, and the people are what determine the elections in at least a few small ways.
Where are you seeing all this racism? When did a candidate play the card you speak of?

Holy shit can you not read?
Candidates aren't going to say much about race directly, but they'll play the card that he isn't like the rest of the country
Not a race card.
However, politicians and voters are calling him all sorts of names that clearly show they don't think he's ONE OF THEM. As I said.
It seems to be that many people are saying that every argument against Obama is a secret code word for saying "I hate him because he's black".
Accept nothing at value. All Romney or any GOP is actually saying is nothing more than, "PSST, HE'S BLACK DON'T VOTE FOR HIM!" and nothing more.
So you're basically agreeing that it's because he's black or some other irrelevant reason, not any actual economic or social critique of his policies?
Yes. I'm not accusing everyone who dislikes Obama of being racist. What I am saying is that the election of a black president caused some racists to lose their shit and do everything in their power to discredit him via racist/racially-loaded cultural memes like the belief that he was born in Kenya or that a conspiracy by an organization which helps lower-class urban americans to vote resulted in widespread voter fraud, and that non-racist right-wingers easily latched onto these racist conspiracy theories because of the intense climate of fear that came to prominence in America under the Bush administration and was multiplied by the dire economic climate that the Bush administration left behind.
Generally speaking, in broad strokes, the only major failure of Obama's economic policies was his failure to fix a global financial crisis the likes of which the world has never seen in four years, two of which he faced an openly hostile congress. The only way that, knowing this, we can explain the incomprehensibly vitriolic attitude that the Right has had towards Obama is that there is some other factors and, for the aforementioned reasons, I have a sneaking suspicion that one of those is race.

So wait, politicians and voters aren't calling Romney names?
Or are those name callers irrelevant because Romney is white and therefore meaningless?

Sure they are. Are they racially charged? Probably not.
Not all people are racist and not all romney voters are either, but there's some of them and that's enough.
There's surely black people and other races that are racist against white people to a degree, but do you think that segment is as large as the one hating Obama for being black?
So wait, politicians and voters aren't calling Romney names?

They're irrelevant because the names he's being called aren't racist.
They're irrelevant because the most widely disseminated criticisms of him aren't racist conspiracy theories.

Okay. While I acknowledge that there's definitely some racists out there pissed at Obama winning, I do not believe it's such a significant amount to warrant a worry that Obama may lose an election just because or racism. (Though sometimes I have a feeling that's what FP will argue if Romney wins)
And secondly, no non-racist right-winger would easily latch onto racist conspiracy theories unless they were racist. It makes no sense for a non-racist person to agree to racist beliefs unless they were not non-racist.

My dad is most definitely not a racist and he believes Obama was born in Kenya. Unless you're going to tell me that 30 percent of republicans are racist then you should probably rescind your "non-racists never believe anything racist" claim. I don't think 30 percent of republicans are racist, but obviously 30 percent have latched on to a racist conspiracy theory.
People can believe racist shit without knowing that it's racist and can even act in a discriminatory manner without even knowing about it. It's one of the foundations of Institutional Racism.

There is proof that arguments against Obama's policies only exist because he's black.
Obviously not every one but at the same time it's not something you can casually dismiss.

I read your post too fast for my own good. My bad. How about when he's called a foreigner, european, socialist, pinko, commie? These aren't just things repeated by voters. People in power have made these views. Romney isn't going to risk saying something that's offensive, it's too much of a swing of power, but he's not biting his tongue when he talks of Obama being a different and strange man, and in ways un-american.

But no one is saying every. That's the problem, you're seeing this black and white and it's a really big shit ton of gray area. The feelings exist, but they aren't the #1 thing going around.

The thing is it spreads. It doesn't sit isolated. Fear and uncertainty of the times allows emotions and feelings to sweep across otherwise smarter than that people without them realizing it.
Saying that Obama was born in Kenya implies that fact checkers don't exist in the government and he was just allowed a pass.
And pft. Like they have complex birth certificate duplicators in Kenya.
One thing I've realized since paying attention to politics is that there are really stupid people on both sides. With this year's election, there's the aforementioned Obama birthplace "confusion", and there's also a lot of people painting Romney as an outright bad person. It's almost as if both sides are trying to make people think that they're over thinking the entire thing. It's very strange to watch.
I prefer Obama's social policy but I'm pretty clueless as far as the economics they each propose go
It kind of sucks living in a big state that is decided one way or another. It really makes me feel like my vote doesn't matter.

It does matter! Go vote! [sp]You get a cool sticker![/sp]
Hey, I'm in Florida! I'll be voting for Mr. Romney, I'm excited to see what happens with my state.
'BREAKING'
"This just in! Due to Mitt Romney being elected President of the United States, Florida has be engulfed by the Atlantic Ocean! Fox news tonight at 9!"
Seriously though
Something I've learned from FP: If you agree at all with anything that republicans do you're going to get dumbs.
If nothing else, Romney's foreign policy is terrible. Please don't vote him in unless you want to piss off world powers (more than usual!).

oh look at this a thread about republicans/conservatives with out dumbs, on the first page
posting stupid generalities like this about FP is one of the most annoying things FP users do, it's ridiculous
I'm sorry, but 1000 people is not nearly enough people for a proper poll. Need at least a million or so.
America, what the fuck are you doing.

its almost as if there's some sort of corellation between republican beliefs and dumb bullshit...

uh, FP is pretty fucking liberal and smashes on anyone with conservative views, fuck are you smoking
How the fuck do these polls work? How many people are they polling, and how many locations around the US? You need several million people in a poll to get an accurate one.
no. no you really don't.
America, what the fuck are you doing.
yo its just florida (2nd worst state). Obama is winning nationwide
uh, FP is pretty fucking liberal and smashes on anyone with conservative views, fuck are you smoking
First of all, it's not an american forum so the right wing of the US is stupidly far right to the rest of us, bordering on insanity. We make fun of it for that reason.
The fact is though, that republican doesn't equal an instant dumb. It just usually relates to that because of the content contained within. I JUST showed you a post that proves we don't crush everything republican.
Also, you don't know how polling science works AT ALL.
And FP isn't a fucking hivemind.
I'm not wishing death upon him.

"I'm not wishing death upon him, but I'm wishing he was dead."
There's something wrong here mate.

I've outright said I'm voting for Romney and I've only got a funny and an agree (on a separate point, of course). The personality differences are on display 24/7 in politics. When you find a way to share an idea while appealing to what people like, everything is fine.
