Jihad bil Saif is the only form of warfare that Islamic law allows. It only allows warfare when the enemy has started it, along with other rules. There are also multiple types of Jihad - a jihad is a struggle, be it to improve yourself, to improve the Islamic faith, or to defend Islam.
