The 3rd world bit is a bit odd; it refers not to less developed nations specifically, but those nations that remained non-aligned during the Cold War, so that part is quite irrelevant to this particular issue.

Based on what I know, though, I do believe there was a better way to go about it. I also do know that there was still a percentage of Japanese who would have reported things to Japan. Also you can't compare the two. The Japanese situation was being at war with another country. All I've been doing is providing an argument as to why the pilot might have been justified. And too those bringing up Christian arguments, I agree with you just as much as I think what I do about Islam. I'm agnostic, not Christian. I was on a plane to Iceland. On the flight were a pair of fully robed Buddhist monks. The coach from the airport to the volcanic springs and then later into the city had the monks, a pair of either Muslim or Hindu religious leaders in huge, elaborate, colourful gear and a pair of Priests got off at various hotels. I have to wonder what was going on. Oh and all the passengers on the bus got molested right up until we were blown up and achieved nirvana.
