Also kids and casual gamers usually don't have high end PCs and even if they do, a lot of their friends do not. So if you want to game with friends it's easier to play on a console together, especially when having friends over, it's just easier despite the fact that LAN parties are infinitely more fun.
I wish I had friends willing to do a good LAN party, I've only really had a big LAN game once in CoD4, so much damn fun, way better than any other time I've been to somebodies house with a few other friends and done splitscreen console stuff Its way more effort but you would definitely have more fun
PC's are just better. Hardware, games prices, community. [sp]Guess what were growing ever larger and always welcoming. Join us won't you.[/sp]
Lol yeah JOIN US!! You don't have to put up with 5 year olds telling you they fucked your mom twice last night...
Lol yeah JOIN US!! You don't have to put up with 5 year olds telling you they fucked your mom twice last night...
I wish I could rate you more rainbows than just one. Remember that the ARTS genre is exclusive to the PC and hosts probably the most vitriolic communities ever.
Now we can show this to the people who signed the petition for GTAV not being on PC for "They will just pirate the game"
I can safely say GTA V is going to be a must buy for me, especially if the price is convenient.
that is not even remotely the same thing lol
With a console, you're sitting in front of a TV playing a game with your controller. If you actually bother to set it up, then with a PC, you're also sitting in front of a TV playing the same game with the same controller. Besides the PC generally having better graphics and more customization, what's the difference, really?
The only console I'd bother to own right now is a Wii U, and only because Nintendo usually makes good exclusive games. Otherwise, I buy all my games on Steam, because they run better, look better, and are more customizable.
I like my console because sometimes I like to play games AND use my computer for non-gaming activities at the same time without putting my system through unnecessary strain when I alt tab to watch a movie or do homework or something. [editline]29th April 2014[/editline] "but you can do that with X software or Z metho-" Yeah, but I don't want to. If you're allowed to spend your money on an ultimate gaming rig I should be able to spend my money on a moderate rig and a console or two and not be fucking chastised for wanting to play my videogames differently from you.
only reason to buy consoles anymore is if you're like my brother and PCs are allergic to you, and by that i mean litterally stupid random shit will fail on you for no particular reason like the BIOS or graphic drivers or harddrives and other random components burn out randomly
that is not even remotely the same thing lol
Its almost literally the same thing, if not better.
you're right you get to play console games like a console with better graphics with controller and a television screen And considering the old generation is shit and new generation can't even run games properly yet, it's actually currently way better to do it on PC. its like its the same exact thing... just... different.
No matter how you spin it in order to play a computer like a console (read: like a console!!!) you need to go through more effort. Native controller support is not available on every game, or even every controller (and contextual button commands do not always appear as the correctly mapped button). Split screen is not on every PC game and usually requires some sort of modification (L4D, Borderlands). My PC will never be as portable or as small as a console. My PC will always require installations of games, that takes more time than putting in a disc and playing. The UI of the PC takes more time to load and get into a game status (such as big picture mode, you don't just turn the computer on and it is there). I'd have to move my PC out of my office and into another room to play games on my TV. I'd also need a wireless mouse and keyboard to boot up most games from my couch. I am well aware that it is surely possible to have my PC function similar to a console, but it will never be as simple, and it will require extra effort on my part (as well as extra effort to make it usable again in an office setting). I am not discounting the advantages that PC gaming offers, just stating things I like about my console that my computer can't match. There are some games that I prefer playing on PC (such as moddable titles or FPS games) but that's about it. But for a console port? I'd rather just play it on my console and not have to deal with any of the hassle to play on my TV, or worrying if its a good port, throttling my bandwidth to download it, or using up space on my drive that I need for work. I'd rather play STALKER on the PC. Resident evil 5, castlevania LoS, any racing game, I would much prefer played from my couch with minimal effort in setting up the way I like. If any of you seriously think that consoles will go extinct because of the modularity of PC's you are misunderstanding the point of the devices. I turn on my console when I want to play a game. It has one primary purpose, which it does conveniently for an agreeable price point. Is PC gaming stupid? Not in the slightest. It is a very capable platform when used to highlight the proper abilities of a more flexible device (mods, input devices, LAN, etc). Do I think consoles will ever be entirely replaced by PC's? No, because there are some things that a console does better (or differently if you want a less strong opinion). I use my PC literally every day but at the end of the day I would rather play games on my console because there are reasons I prefer it, and I'm sick of people on this forum treating people like me as idiots for having that preference. Tl;dr Consoles have advantages over PC's and I like those things

Tl;dr Consoles have advantages over PC's and I like those things
if you want to talk about controller support then you might as well note how terribly shitty joysticks are at playing a shooter, because its practically impossible. That and the fact that there are very little games on consoles where you can customize buttons outside of shitty presets. that being said neither really have the upper hand. You can play a PC like a console, you can even have joy2key and play morrowind with an xbox controller (I have actually) it's pretty easy to do really. You could even buy a device to use keyboard and mouse for PC (albeit a little awkwardly) consoles are better because they're simple and optimize extremely well but PC's have better hardware but are a little harder to deal with. As of now PC has better performance and can handle more in a game, so that's a big deal. Many games are FPS locked in consoles at the moment, this will change but I'm sure you get what I mean. Give it about 6 months, PC and console won't have any real difference performance wise and hardware will become irreverent. besides that I literally have no idea who actually said consoles will die off and anyone who believes that is pretty much being a dunderhead. Consoles are just universally good really. I'm both a heavy PC and console user, neither really have a benefit over the other to me, I even use an xbox controller a lot on the pc now-a-days. But this is because console gaming and PC gaming are actually very much close to eachother, console isn't going to die by being replaced by the PC, its going to become an alternative form of PC made for convenience and the living room, and entertainment, making it a far better thing to own than a PC if its for a large family or someone that just wants something easy and simple. I don't have to deal with the shit I deal with on a PC when I'm using a console too, so theres that. No worry about drivers failing, or hte computer bluescreening and having to tinker with bios for a days only to have to reformat. They're all the same and get upgraded the same, its a "No bullshit" kind of deal because if I have an issue its easy to fix. If it gets really bad, its easy to just replace it and get back to playing games just like that. tl;dr The contrast between the two is slowly blurring outside of the obvious. Honestly a console is literally just a personal computer for your living room, and oriented to having entertainment in mind rather than being universally "Whatever you want it to be". That's exactly what the xbox one is. also " My PC will never be as portable or as small as a console. " what a silly argument [t]http://www.neowin.net/images/uploaded/piston%20(01-2013).jpg[/t], hell, just look at laptops if you want to say that and installing games doesn't even take that long steam big picture I can have running when windows starts and use with a controller, or even hold the controllers home button and it'll pop up your argument is pretty much "a PC is harder to click things on" which doesn't actually make the two that different.

Tl;dr Consoles have advantages over PC's and I like those things
the amount of console games I've seen in recent memory with built in split screen is rapidly dwindling and really not worth buying a console for anymore the only titles that really do have split screen anymore are smaller indie games which are on both PC and consoles generally. and the more commonly known these desires are to the game developers are, the more likely we'll see PC's have less of the trouble you're talking about with ease of play. though, to be honest, plugging in a 360 controller to my PC, pressing on the steam window, and then pressing the xbox guide button to launch Big Picture Mode and have ALL controller enabled games easily arranged and available for play is far less hassle than you've made it seem it also seems like every console game I buy these days needs to be installed onto the console to play properly the differences in the two platforms narrow constantly.
I wonder how many people are going to understand this though. Glad to see PC doing well, hope to see some Console games come to PC as well. I hope Bandai sees this and hopefully produces some PC Gundam games.
I sold my PS3 ages ago and ordered a wireless controller for windows so I can just use Big Picture mode from my bed, it's great when I want to be lazy
PC's are just better. Hardware, games prices, community. [sp]Guess what were growing ever larger and always welcoming. Join us won't you.[/sp]
I agree, but I wouldn't want everyone to convert to PC. In the same way that I'm a rugby supporter and I don't want too many football fans turning up to matches. Sounds snobby I know, but they're two different cultures and I don't really want them to mix.
that is not even remotely the same thing lol
Plug in a tv and gamepad then
I think with this, if Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo want to keep up, they need to start taking handhelds more seriously.
I'd say Nintendo are taking their handhelds very seriously. The 3DS is doing very nicely for them and they are making an effort to keep it well supplied with new titles.
