No, but if you believe strapping boxes to yourself is going to somehow prevent the plane from falling from the sky, then i'm speechless.
what about praying
Small wooden boxes?
Sounds more like a ritual Facepunch would preform.
Mexican Jews?
What.
'preform'
lets get him boys

As long as they keep it to themselves. About 4 years ago i was flying from Amsterdam to Toronto and some african guy wearing those african robes with the hat and stuff started praying loudly (wasn't arabic). Made everybody feel uncomfortable and air marshall came and gave him a firm warning which shut him up.

Why should they have to keep it to themselves?

well this is praying
it's just praying and binding oneself as a fashion of showing submissiveness to god; people frequently pray on flights as to avoid death, and these guys were doing the same thing, just in the fashion dictated by the rules of their religion. You're calling them "nutjobs" because it's different than what you're used to?
Mexican Jews?
What.
Mexico has a population of 111 million people. They are not all the same.

Avatar and title do not fit.
Why should they have to keep it to themselves?
It's common sense. When you're on a bus, do you use headphones or a boombox?

I don't tend to make life decisions based on the music I listen to

I don't think you quite get his point.

I was just saying they're two completely different things.
Am I the only one to remember there was a similar thread in the past?

No, they're not and you missed my point.

These are common sense and i honestly don't know why i have to explain these stuff to you.
bus = public space shared by all passengers
airplane = public space also shared by all passengers
Let's say your listening to music on a bus. Nobody cares about what you're listening to on your ipod as long as you keep it to yourself. However, if you start playing music loudly with your boombox, then the driver is probably gonna pull over and kick you out (or ask you to turn it off).
Now let's say you're on an airplane. Nobody would ever care about you praying in your head. However, I assure you, if the other passengers on board wanted to see/hear the ritual, then they themselves would have asked our friendly orthodox jews to perform their god-please-dont-let-this-plane-fall ritual.

Listening to music out loud isn't a necessity but, in those orthodox jew's opinions, praying is.

Which again goes back to my point. Want to pray? Cool, just keep it to yourself.

But that's not how it works for them, you can't pray in your head.

Well, too bad then.

What a great argument.
Thats just it. Strapping boxes and wherever to themselves is seen as different to us, but are we entitled to call them 'nutjobs'? probably not. But if I were to strap pieces of meat and children's toys to my body, and i sincerely believed it would help help me in some spiritual way, would I be labeled as a nutjob? Instantly. Yet both are equal in their illogical nature. It's all relative to what is accepted by society right now. Which is a shame. I don't mean to bash or put down religions, but if they are to exist at all we need to be accepting of all 'weirdness', either that or we go the polar opposite and look down upon all strange religious practices.

Nah, we use cardboard around here.

Perhaps if you weren't the only one putting meat and children's toys on your body it wouldn't be as weird. If it were just you then people would understandably be pretty freaked out.

Ok, let's go over it again. I don't care what you believe in (fairies, flying unicorns, god, etc) or do as long as you keep it to yourself. You can do whatever the fuck you want in private but in a public place you respect majority's wish and i assure you nobody else on that plane wanted to see/hear the 'ritual'.

Or people could just learn more about other cultures and realise not everyone is trying to kill them.
