One and possibly only time I went to Moscow. His Tomb was under maintenance. I was 8.
Keep it there, he is a piece of history
can i at least keep the Lenin statue in my room? that is if they are going to take it out
Stalin was buried , so why not Lenin
Just bury him and bury whatever has remained from the USSR. It's time to let her go.
Of course they should remove it. There isn't a mausoleum for Hitler in Berlin, and there shouldn't be a mausoleum for a person like Lenin.
That's dumb to be honest. Like it or not, he was part of their history.
lets unbury hitler now and and put him in the middle of berlin then :godwin:
It was his last wish to be buried, not exhibited like this. Whatever he was like as a politician, this last vestige of Stalinism should not persist.
lets unbury hitler now and and put him in the middle of berlin then :godwin:
No jews would be allowed to visit him :v:
Just bury him and bury whatever has remained from the USSR. It's time to let her go.
Expect to be buried alive in a forest on a shallow grave by angry russians, comrade.
I'd say the guy should be buried with his mother, he's far from evil. Still kinda wish I could see him at least once, but I'm not sure exhibiting him like this is respectful.
In my opinion, they should grind his body up and distribute the remains equally to every citizen. It's what he would have wanted.
I thought it was some sort of statue or some shit, not his actual corpse. That is beyond fucked up, just bury him.
Russia's trying to deny their heritage/history. Wow. EDIT: Although, if it WAS his final wish, then he should probably be buried.
Expect to be buried alive in a forest on a shallow grave by angry russians, comrade.
Such is life in Russia.
They should have just left a statue and buried him in the first place
he wouldnt have wanted a statue of himself either
I read the title thinking a statue or something. I agree, something like this needs to be indoors.
Wow. That's an interesting development. I mean they may not be proud of their history for the past 100 years or so, but they shouldn't deny it. Also what Meganfanx said. I want to see Lenin's body once in my life.
His body is a daily reminder for millions of their past, it may be time to bury him. [editline]24th January 2011[/editline]
lets unbury hitler now and and put him in the middle of berlin then :godwin:
The KGB dumped his ashes in a river sometime around 1970.
It'll be a bloody shame if they move it soon, since there's a chance I'll get to see the body on a trip to Russia with my sixth form group next year :saddowns:
Russia's trying to deny their heritage/history. Wow. EDIT: Although, if it WAS his final wish, then he should probably be buried.
how are they trying to deny anything? they just want to bury him out of respect to his last wishes. they aren't suddenly striking his name from all history books and pretending he never existed.
In my opinion, he should be buried next to his mother as he requested.
Agreed. It's extremely disrespectful to him if they keep him in the mausoleum, since he explicitly said he wanted to be buried next to his mother. If they truely respect him/see him as a hero, they'd have the courtesy to adhere to his last wishes. [editline]24th January 2011[/editline]
how are they trying to deny anything? they just want to bury him out of respect to his last wishes. they aren't suddenly striking his name from all history books and pretending he never existed.
In fact, polls state that some 60-70% of Russians see him as a hero. Whereas the West only sees him associated with the "devil communists" and the Red Terror, the first of which is Cold War paranoia and the latter a tiny fragment of his life, the Russians see him as the man who saved a feudal, backwards, cruel Tzardom from destruction, and transformed it into a mighty, modernized, and prosperous nation.
Wish to be buried next to Mother. Placed in glass box to be viewed by millions of people for 100 years. Such is life in Moscow.
Of course they should remove it.
It was his last wish to be buried, not exhibited like this. It's a representation of the Marxist-Leninist philosophy.
lenin's corpse is frozen for future rebirth
That's dumb to be honest. Like it or not, he was part of their history.
thats like saying to germany 'keep hitler statue and swastika becuz ur still fucking dumb nazis' i mean really, if they want to get rid of it then fine
Lenin wasn't a bad man like Hitler.
Jesus Christ, what? Lenin overthrew the legitimate democratic goverment of the Republic of Russia! That goverment was democratically chosen by the peoples of Russia, and that retard overthrew it because ''BAWW I DON'T WANT TO SHARE MY POWERZ''. Lenin indirectly caused the deaths of tens of millions of people between 1918 and 1991, and has caused more suffering than any other world leader combined. In my opinion, since he started the communist revolution, he is THE MOST EVIL man who has ever existed on this planet.

Tsarist Russia was democratic only when the Tsar felt like it. If they did something the Tsar didn't like, it was dissolved. Read about the 1906 First Duma and 1907 Second Duma, for starters. Not that i'm saying Lenin was a nice bloke politically, but the Russian Empire that preceded the Soviet Union was about as democratic as the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. EDIT: Ooops, February revolution

Revolution overthrew the Tsar, the October one overthrew the short-lived Republic). Lenin didn't "indirectly caused the deaths", most of that can be blamed on Stalinism.
