But this is the exact same thing conservatives were saying in 2009 about Obama, because they thought he didn't have enough experience because he was a ~community organizer~ and was likely to push for socialist reforms which is ~objectively~ awful in the mind of a conservative. It's literally the same shit but reversed. I don't think Trump is fit for office, I didn't even vote for the guy. But everyone just needs to calm down and realize it's probably nto going to be the end of the world. The best way to avoid the end of the world is to work with the guy. He's all of our president and we should want desperately for him to succeed and be a good president. And the people that disagree with him should be up front trying to help him succeed. That's how politics should work.
Everybody agrees it's not going to be the end of the world in general, but some of the things he has done in the run up to, and after the elections, are quite alarming. Problem is though, Trump seems more interested in complaining about random folks and news houses on Twitter than listen to people who might steer him in the right direction, and avoid further mistakes and gaffes. My personal view is that the American people should suffer as little as possible over the next four years, but with a pro-Republican government, we're likely to see a lot of policies that are going to fuck over the common man on the street, such as lowering the taxes on the rich, doing away with so-called needless regulations, and spending a lot of money on white elephants like a gigantic wall.
They're about 20 minutes late right now. I hope Obama is grilling Trump behind closed doors one last time

BBC news just had some nice footage from inside one of the protest groups. Balaclavas, anarchy flag and knocking over trash cans and smashing McDonalds windows.
You should always have the right to a peaceful protest and I don't see a reason why, if you disagree with your president, you should not be able to do just that.
BBC news just had some nice footage from inside one of the protest groups. Do you think all of the protesters are like the ones shown?
why did you attempt to reinvent the phrase to seem provocative
Lol why are you assuming im trying to be provocative? We're on an internet forum ffs, not some philosophy board. Also, it's a thing called paraphrasing.

There was some turd swinging an insanely long stick at a police officer as well. I wonder what measures they have in place to stop drones - I bet there'll be quite a few attempts to send them in with either banners or shit attached to them in a bid to disrupt things.
Do you think te media has interest in showing the peaceful protesters? Plus it was only 3 or so people of the group. They seemed out to start shit.
Lol why are you assuming im trying to be provocative? We're on an internet forum ffs, not some philosophy board. It would be nice to get him to change his mind on things but the odds are heavily against us, he has interests in business and so does his cabinet and if something is bound to get in the way of those interests then he's unlikely to budge. And this is the man who called climate change a Chinese hoax, the man who actually questioned why the US can't use nuclear weapons in combat, the man who continues to provoke the Chinese and is willing to undo years of diplomatic progress. Forgive me if I'm a little anxious about him taking the reigns to the most powerful nation on earth.

You're mixing "objectively" and "subjectively" here - it's "objective" when likely change impacts measurable variables, it's "subjective" when it offends conservative values. I'm genuinely curious how fears about Obama - that is, not the conspiracy stuff like birtherism, repeal of 2nd amendment and selling US to UN - compare to concerns about Trump as summarized here: https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1548403&p=51659541#post51659541 It doesn't need to be the end of the world for people to mount a legitimate protest. Equating protests against Obama and Trump legitimizes the conspiracy drivel that fringe conservatives (not coincidentelly, Trump among them) peddled and delegitimizes concerns about Trump's & Co's competence and conflicts of interest. Of course, it benefits everyone if Trump happens to be a good president and I sincerely hope that, but as it things are going it's highly unlikely that it will actually benefit everyone and not a small clique beyond the nebulous concept of "winning" as a nation. Because democracy doesn't run on the assumption that people should just cheer and support the leader if he works against their interests.
Nah Collapse the system sooner than later and rebuild from the ground up
Like the Republicans with Obamacare?
You should always have the right to a peaceful protest and I don't see a reason why, if you disagree with your president, you should not be able to do just that.
There is no problem with protesting but the problem is with the extreme sides of both political sides. For the right you got skinheads for example and for the left you got anti-fascists. Both these sides are on equal footing when it comes to using violence. The current situation is unfortunately that a large amount of anti-fascists have mixed them self with the peaceful protesters today. So that is reason why some are saying that the protest should be contained in order to limit the damage that could be done.
So apparently in Sevnica (Melania's birthplace) they will have a 3-day long open doors city-festival. http://www.rtvslo.si/zabava/zanimivosti/sevnica-ob-trumpovi-prisegi-odpira-vrata-in-razkazuje-svoj-diskretni-sarm/412977 (article is in Slovene) I actually kinda wanna go there now :v:
Like Obamacare?
Obamacare was an attempt to put something on an already rotting core of a system Remove and rebuild Full socialized medicine Nice edit btw
Note: MSM is focused on the inaugeration #Disrupt J20 Is rioting outside.
Well were you deliberately provocative? .
Does it matter to the thread topic? No. I hope the pres does well, for his and all of our sake.
[t]http://img-9gag-fun.9cache.com/photo/axgXoZK_700b_v1.jpg[/t]
But, you see, the electoral college says those 10,000 are more equal than the other 400,000. So he's actually better than Obama! You're just mad he won. :suicide:

I consider some rioting an unfortunate side effect of free expression, part of the price of democracy, if you will. When you suggest such things, it's always necessary to consider the consequences, in this case limiting the right of expression.
You're way over thinking what I said.
I strongly disagree that protests against Obama and Trump are of equal legitimacy and that everyone "just needs to calm down" plus the hyperbolic way of communicating the situation. And I can't directly argue about it with LORD M because I can't even understand the intent of his posts.
