Holy fucking shit this. I regret pre-purchasing BF4..
That's why you should never pre-order. Why take the bullet when there are folks like John Bain and Jesse Cox and Ryan Letourneau who're sporting flak jackets as they stand on the front lines, ready to give the all-clear or trigger the warning sirens when the first slugs hit? It's usually their job to go in before the others and determine whether or not a game is any good. The sooner we stop depending on faith and embrace cold hard science, the sooner pre-order culture will fade away. Sadly trying to get everyone to stop pre-ordering games is like herding cats, since many folks aren't savvy enough to realise that putting money down sight unseen for a product that hasn't even come out yet is a terrible idea. Wait for independent critics and reviewers and other such folks to play enough of it for them to formulate a solid opinion and determine whether it's safe enough to dive in. Sure it might be "bad for business", but if business relies on ignorant fools putting their faith in people who could easily screw them over, then fuck that business, we need more ethical business practices.
You gotta download more ram and innovation
Battlefield has pulled a cod. It's now a yearly release, so it went down the shitter.
That translates into "We copy-pasted worse than Activision does with CoD, we need time to actually make new things to stick into these new maps"
Lemme just grab my 2 liter tub of innovation
This should be your title.

I've always had an itch for the game, but I had no way to tell wheter it was a quality product or not. I've purchased it for dirt cheap after getting BF3 for free, and I do not regret it one single bit, especially now that all the fixes have been put out
"We've just played level 3 and I think the innovation needs a little tightening"
the nostalgia
Patience and restraint are virtues, after all. Like, if a game is going to be cheaper, more complete and not as broken later on, those are plenty of reasons to wait it out. Hell I was kind of interested in Dragon Age: Origins when it was announced, but I only bought it when the Ultimate Edition was out on sale, with all the extra content and a low price to boot, and I had no regrets. A more recent example was Kingdoms of Amalur which I bought a few days ago and have been sinking many hours into so far. Haven't gotten too far in yet, only just defeated the Widow in Webwood, but so far I'm having quite the blast with it and I didn't have to pay the full-on price for all the extra content. Another example of the virtues of patience and restraint when it comes to gaming is the Sims series. Buying a new Sims game on release day is a mug's game, since there aren't any expansions out yet, and the game is generally more-or-less complete when you buy the complete edition years later. So in general it's usually a better bet to buy the complete edition of the previous game, wait for the expansions to pile up, and play other stuff in the meantime.
Why do people here think yearly or semi yearly franchises are gonna be good? How do they still far for it?
There was a time where they would have just shipped it. At least doing something is better then doing nothing.
Why do people here think yearly or semi yearly franchises are gonna be good? You complain when they rush the game. Now you complain when they take their time to do something new. Oh right it's EA so just say whatever you want about them.
I think it has potential. I have a lot of fun playing BF4 and the beta for Hardline was alright, although it got boring quick with only 1 map.
I can't wait to pirate this. [editline]17th September 2014[/editline] Inb4 banned "Dont talk about warez"
Pirating online games.. How does that work for you?
You people would be upset regardless of what EA does. Release it too early? "Broken pile of shit!" Delay it to put more work into it? "Release it already!" I'm personally glad they're delaying it to try and change it up. I thought it had promise but it wasn't really reaching the heights of that promise.
There was a time where they would have just shipped it. At least doing something is better then doing nothing.
This is the first time in years EA doesn't have an FPS coming out in the holiday slot. It's a pretty big concession.
I get that people might be angry because they pre-ordered this, but can't you just cancel your pre-order? And EA is (as mentioned above) going to miss the holiday season, so this doesn't seem to be motivated too much about money. The only reason I can see is that they're not competing with CoD:AW, but that isn't really a big advantage, if an advantage at all.

oh i'm starting to understand "innovation" is EA's pet word for microtransactions
my question is how can the same people throw a tantrum when the same franchises say they're delaying the game's release a bit to work on it more, regardless of appeasing buzzwords
It's pretty ridiculous that the people who complain about BF4 being a $60 expansion pack are now complaining that the devs are taking more time to improve Hardline (because the PR people are using PR buzzwords or something?) rather than have it be another $60 expansion pack.
If its the same "innovation" that made sim city and dungeon keeper mobile what they are today, then no fucking thank you. I'd rather put up with Ubisoft and their Uplay bullshit. That being said, if the game launches in relatively good quality, I'll be impressed.
I'd say EA is the better of the two for two reasons 1. Origin actually isn't half bad aside from selection, unlike UPlay which runs on top of Steam and just doesn't work. 2. EA will actually try to fix it when they botch something up. They rushed BF4 and put out a broken game, but what did they do? They got to work on patching it and they delayed Hardline to work on it further. Ubisoft just gives a couple empty apologies.

The fact they're skipping the holiday altogether is really promising that they're changing their ways
As if "innovation" is a quantifiable, tangible thing you can create. The reality is that innovation happens organically. But I don't care. As long as the game gets more polished, then I'm ok with delays.
I think the "innovation" here is that they're hinting at trying to put out a completed game.
Am I the only one who really likes BF3 and 4?
2014: the year all the games got delayed to 2015
Am I the only one who really likes BF3 and 4?
Patched up BF3 is a really good shooter and while the DLC was hit or miss, End Game has defined for me what makes the perfect multiplayer DLC. Battlefield 4 is still sloppy and I got bored of it shortly after Naval Strike came out, only playing Dragon Rising for the unlocks and quitting after 3 days.
I quit playing there new games, and now I am hooked on Bf2:PR again. That game is still so good, I don't know why I quit playing.
