Dacommie. Harper makes decisions and laws that DON'T represent a large part of this country. Why should we have any love for a man who's really proved that he's not at all looking out for Canadians, just for himself and the more corporatist elements of this country. You really want to deny that then explain the Canada-China Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Act, explain his omnibus bills, his stance on internet and patents Whatever, be an apologist but he's not stalin or hitler and no one's fucking comparing him to them at all so don't be a moron, he's just bad for a lot of this country.
Way to buck the trend Harper, glad to finally see you not blindly following U.S. policy See, he can be idiotic all on his own like a big boy.

You can have a majority of the seats in the House of Commons, yet still represent less then a majority of our citizens. Instead of complaining about ol' Stephey, we should be reforming the basis of our democratic system. Build from the ground up, as it were.
True, but I seem to recall Stephey talking about reforms back in 2006. Like so much else, nothing ever came to pass.

I remember Rick Mercer, quite a while back, said they only have to attend work for, and don't quote me on this, something like a hundred days, and they make a fuck ton of cash. But, alas, campaign promises are not governing promises.

It's nothing new or unique. The last time a politician represented "a majority of Canadians" was 1984 if we're going by popular vote, and before that it was the '50s, both Conservatives. People keep bringing this up again as if it's something new or unique, it's not, you almost never get a popular vote majority as well as a majority government. I understand people have been concerned over increased trade with China, but Harper's not the only politician supporting that, young Trudeau is as well. If we can gain easier access to new markets that benefit our country, then it's worth exploring the options. I don't know the particulars, but people seem to be concerned mostly just because it's China we're dealing with on this subject. His stance on the internet is regrettable, however he's received a lot of internal backlash over Bill C-30, which I did bring up in my previous post, and it's gone to more intense debate. I think that bill is more reflective of Toews than Harper, though, especially given the way Toews defended it, "You're either with us, or you're with the child pornographers." Absolutely disgusting, and I made sure to let him know that I found it to be disgusting. As for his stance on patents, I'm not versed on that. I'm not saying you should love Harper and never question anything he does, that would be retarded. I've said as well I don't like him, I just hate him the least, and would like to see a new leader for all parties next election. Does he do things that deserve criticism, of course, but whenever I see him brought up it's not criticism I see, it's personal attacks, insults, and conspiracy theories. I'm not saying like him, I never have been trying to say that, I've been saying if you're going to criticize, then criticize, don't insult and defame. Claiming he's a plague on Canada that's destroying the nation without any support behind that statement is an insult, not a criticism, and often I've seen the foundation of that be in policies he doesn't support any longer or that are not part of the Tory platform, merely associated with a stereotype. Claiming he rigged the election is a ridiculous conspiracy theory and blatantly false. Saying we should kick Alberta out of the country because the population there is largely Conservative is just stupid. When I defend Harper, I'm not trying to defend everything he does and say he's great, I'm saying he's, in my opinion, the "best" candidate given the choices, that he does good and bad things, but that people spend too much time insulting him based on misconceptions and preexisting hatred rather than criticizing his policies with a level head and relevant argument. There have actually been times in the last year or so I've debated contacting the Rhino Party to see if I can run in my riding for them in 2015, because as much as I hate the NDP, and dislike the Liberals very strongly, I also dislike Harper and his Tories, and while I find them to be the lesser of 3 evils personally, they're getting to the point where I don't really want to support them either with my vote.
Is there a Canadian version of Ron Paul for all the college white kids to talk about that nobody actually votes for?
ron paul is the ron paul for all countries whether they know it or not
Fuck off, Harper. We should like... give Alberta to Texas and let them seceed togther, then maybe we might be able to get something other than a shakey conservative majority..
I don't want to seceed from Canada. [editline]4th December 2012[/editline] and plus people here are surprisingly liberal
