My guess is this will keep happening until either; A) Gun rights are removed/restricted B) A civil militia is established and more people are armed C) Martial Law
You're wrong.
Sensationalist media at its finest, fanning the flames and inspiring more death. Glad to see they're making money though. Perish the though they didn't make money.
Aurora, near Denver, was the scene of a mass shooting at a cinema in July, in which a gunman killed 12 people. He opened fire at random during the premiere of the Batman film The Dark Knight Rises. Suspect James Eagan Holmes is currently being tried on murder charges.
Why even bring this up? If your objective, as a news organization, is to inform people of this particular shooting, why mention the TDKR shooting earlier and, even worse, mention the name of the killer for the earlier shooting? It isn't even relevant to the story at hand and you're giving the guy even more recognition than before.
My guess is this will keep happening until either; A) Gun rights are removed/restricted B) A civil militia is established and more people are armed C) Martial Law
Everything you said is butfucking retarded, and you're buying into blatantly obvious sensationalism. The only reason we're hearing about so many murders and shootings is because gun control is a hot topic right now, and the media makes shitloads of money when they report stuff like this. In about 1-2 months, this will all die down and you won't even remember any of these shootings. Remember the Amish school shooting from way back in 2006? Fuck no you don't. These shootings aren't common occurrences, they make up for less than 1% of total firearms related homicides and assaults, we're only hearing about them now because it's a hot topic.
Look, it's pretty simple. If you give some asshole a stick eventually they're gonna start beating someone with it.
They are a daily thing, its just that the media is reporting on them more lately due to the recent mass shootings.
This is probably like when everyone was freaking out about Earthquakes a few years ago.
My guess is this will keep happening until either; A) Gun rights are removed/restricted B) A civil militia is established and more people are armed C) Martial Law
I nearly spit soda out my nose at those.
My guess is this will keep happening until either; A) Gun rights are removed/restricted B) A civil militia is established and more people are armed C) Martial Law
Yeah martial law only causes problems, civil militia is also fucking stupid, and gun rights are not the reason we have shootings, removing the rights doesn't mean jack shit to the criminals. Seriously, rethink your ways on how you can stop murder, which has been a problem since the don of civilization.
See, if we let everyone use guns in public this wouldn't of happened.
Why haven't we taken the guns out of the hands of murderers yet...?
You say this in every single shooting thread, stop trying to cause another 7 page long argument
Why isn't there a thread for each of these? http://www.suntimes.com/17400769-761/1-dead-7-hurt-in-shootings-since-friday-afternoon.html
Talk about Sensational Headlines. And talk about people who don't even read the article, just the title.

Its just the coverage as you said. However regardless of whether the actual crime rate is going up or down, the public eye is seeing more of it and thus regardless of the iminent danger sensationalism will push towards one of the three measures I described. Measure B (Militia and armed people) doesnt neccesarily mean an organized militia. Just the whole more armed people around idea. Similar to the stance of arming teachers. I suppose there is also: D) Media attention dies out So I guess lets hope for that one? Idk
why do so many shootings happen in Colarado? I thought colarado was nice :(
Now that I looked up the address of the shooting on the map, I see it's only about half a mile from me.
why do so many shootings happen in Colarado? I thought colarado was nice :(
Just as many shootings are happening in Colorado as there always have been, the only reason this story is getting any attention is because it happened in a town where a semi-recent mass shooting took place. Also, Colorado is nice. Had the privilege of skiing in Breckenridge last year, and the mountains there were fucking amazing.
See, if we let everyone use guns in public this wouldn't of happened.
But it happened in a household :O
this isn't quite a public mass shooting, media's reporting it because it's in Aurora. regardless of that though that sucks
We really don't need to report everytime someone gets shot. We'd need a whole subforum for Chicago.
And Jackson. People were shooting fireworks for New Year's, and we were joking that it sounds like when we go to Jackson.
I'm guessing there's more shootings than you think, but now they're getting more coverage due to the whole sandy-hook thing. I don't like how people are blaming it on the guns, blame it on the people who use them. The guns aren't the problem, the people are! Make shrinks cheaper or something along those lines.
You say this in every single shooting thread, stop trying to cause another 7 page long argument
Because it should be said. The gun issue is getting out of hand, they need to be controlled and taken out of the hands of people. It gives them too much power.

Martial law, repeal of the second amendment, and starting local militias, isn't going to suddenly stop the media from reporting on murders. The day mass media stops reporting on these mass shootings and starts being more concerned with what Justin Beiber's doing or what Kanya west's baby will look like, people will stop caring about the gun control issue, just like usual. It gives them too much power.
The point of the second amendment is to give the people power over the Government, so the Government can't easily quell a revolution or an uprising if one starts.
A government should live in fear of its people. A person should never live in fear of his government.
