A Point of View: Why short men make better husbands
I look at people taller than me and think "You poor bastard, It's hard enough finding shirts long enough at my height" and I nod with commiseration and they solemnly receive it with a nod in return.
When I see a fellow tall person, I don't ask him how tall he is. It's more of a "Hey, what's your inseam? 38? Where'd you get those pants?" or "Where do you get your size 15 shoes"
For a society that 'favors' tall people, there really are hardly any tall options.
What a poorly written article. It barely has hard facts and is comprised mostly of opinion and filler.
It's from the BBC Magazine section. It's not news or was it meant to be news. It's opinion pieces and slightly more "fluff" content to contrast the awful shit that the news section has to report on mostly.
I enjoy being 5'10" (178cm) or so because being the average height, everything is catered to me pretty much. All stores sell my size of clothes, that actually fit right. I dont have a fear of walking under doors because my head might hit them. I can sit in all chairs, sofas, and beds comfortably.
Manlets, when will they learn?
I find people's obsession with height absolutely bizarre, quite frankly
There are a lot of obsessions about things directly related to size, that can be considered bizarre.

I wouldn't mind being with a tall girl, just as long as she's tough as fuck, into femdom, carrying me around and changing my diaper in an adult sized crib
This is why Danny DeVito is the most desirable man alive.
From a biological standpoint shorter men would make better husbands, but not genetic mates. As a female you're looking for someone who will stick around and take care of your offspring, rather than go out after other mates. In nature you have a tendency to see females mating with males with strong genetic traits and then pairing with males that will devote more time to the care of the offspring, even though the offspring are not that of the paired male. You see this a lot when studying mating and pair bonds in birds.
human mating rituals =/= animal mating rituals, otherwise we'd all still be dumb alpha-gorillas
I am 5"8 but wear size 11 1/2 shoes. Then again I still have growing to do.
I don't know about the article but being tall is pretty awesome, except when the other day when I was visiting Maine I was bumping my head on all sorts of shit because up there they are all pretty much 5"8 or below.

Humans are just animals as well. It's not rituals, it's just biology. We may have added a lot on top of the foundation of our genes, but ultimately, they are still in control, acting as a force that dictates about everything we do. We've got plenty of 'dumb alpha-gorillas' and they are successful in their reproduction, and then we've got different humans who get mates through other means, just like in other species. If you think the only mating strategy is 'alpha-gorilla' then you don't know much about different reproductive tactics.
I guess once you've got a drought of shitty artsy games you have to resort to self-promotion for your sex-gathering articles.
Short men make better husbands, and make up in wisdom what they lack in stature, says self-confessed small man, Adam Gopnik.
He wouldn't be so short if he'd stop squatting

as a canadian who uses the metric system all the time, I almost never hear anyone refer to their height in metric. it's just a rarity outside of government forms.
Do you think bronies measure themselves in hands?
I read the article and all of the men, whilst being short, also seem to have something else in common - plenty of dollar in the bank.
Most short guys I know are super obnoxious, self centred and gym obsessed.
Same here. Seems people get a lot less competitive and aggressive about height when they're really tall. Once you hit 6'3", you're all in the same boat. Like when you're walking in a crowd and casually nod to the nearest face you see poking above everyone else, it's an unspoken brotherhood. Like an exclusive club.
Those of us in the 6'1" and 6'2" club are a fellow tall person chapter in that unspoken brotherhood. We normally don't get to partake in these tall shenanigans, but when you're the only white guy in a sea of 4'-5' tall Hmong people and you see a black dude... It's like, how you doing buddy? Yeah, I got a thing for Asian ladies too.
Do you think bronies measure themselves in hands?
My fucking sides just left orbit you don't even know.
I'm 6'3 and my girlfriend is 5'2
funsized women are the best

What Danny DeVito lacks in height he makes up for in girth and by having a magnum dong.

Jesus Christ the autism in this thread.
Same here but this is coming from a giant at 6'6".
People think they'll offend me if they ask me how tall I am or say "do you play basketball?"
Solution: Be tall as fuck and fat as hell - nobody asks a fat person if they play basketball

As if using the word Autism to describe a comment is any better.

Imagine referring to getting laid as "mating and reproductive tactics" and not sounding autistic.

Hopefully one day we can do away with biology and nerd words once and for all.
What's it with Americans and their obsession with height?
Funny thing is, on average, they are "short" compared to the average of many European countries
