About time we get a sci-fi CoD, this "15 minutes into the future" stuff with the recent ones have been one hell of a tease.
Finally, we need a new 6DOF shooter - Shattered Horizon died way too quickly.
eventually they're going to invent a time machine in the Call of Duty universe, to go back and participate in world war 2
That'd actually be pretty awesome. A time machine to go back to the old cod's and basically fuck up the timeline and see the results. I'd only trust Treyarch with something like this though since they've done the whole multiple endings thing. The Modern Warfare timeline is a lot more interesting to see the ripples though
Every thread about CoD there's a post that says go back to WW2. People moved away from WW2 for a reason and there's a reason the same thing is happening to the modern military setting. WW2 was exhausted back in the day and so is the modern war
Also fictional settings allow for more creative freedom like seen in advanced warfare and Black ops 3
It sure would've been great if they utilized that creative freedom and fictional settings they came up with were interesting. Instead of the same modern warfare with wallhacks and reinvented double jumping, and plots that are only interesting to someone who has read one book in their life and that happened to be a book on cooking.
*Call of duty keeps doing the same thing*
"GOD WHAT A FUCKING SHIT GAME NOTHING IS EVEN CHANGING"
*they change stuff*
"GOD WHAT A FUCKING SHIT GAME THEY SHOULD HAVE STUCK WITH THEIR ROOTS"
the hell
I can't be the only one that wants to go back to WW2. I'm tired of firing "futuristic" AR and shotguns.
We had so fucking many WW2 games it will be too soon if I ever see another one.

how about fictionalize WW2 ie Weird War 2?

BLOPS 3 is already kind of doing it with zombies, it would be neat to see it become it's own thing
You're all complaining but this sounds great. If I'm not mistaken that's the second ever multi-player shooter set in space. At least I can't think of any other shooter than Shattered Horizon that has tried a shooter in space before.

Stop, I can only get so erect
how about fictionalize WW2 ie Weird War 2?
That's what I'm talkin' about! All of that weird science and the secret weapons of World War 2, stuff kinda like what we saw in the classic Zombies mode from World at War. Hell, they could bring back Doctor Richtofen while they're at it!
I can't wait until they release a Call of Duty that takes place near the heat death of the universe, trillions of years in the future. I want to get epic noscope kills as a Jupiter-sized computer brain :v:
Call of Duty: Moonraker
A Dieselpunk CoD game would be cool. Its World War II, but you can have similar stuff to Advanced Warfare

Shattered Horizon's hardly the first but being able to move your character in all directions isn't exactly common.
First game I played that was like that would be Heavy Gear 2 like 17 years ago.
You were in a mech with jets that you could use to maneuver around in any direction while you weren't grav-locked onto a station.
I'm hoping they really go out there with this one. My fear is that it will have some elements that are similar to Titanfall or halo and people will immediately dismiss it for being a clone of those two games.
Not gonna lie, it's gotten my interest. Might keep an eye out on what they announce.
I would avoid future Call of Duty releases, Activision has caught onto the microtransaction case unboxing gambling stuff but instead of it being cosmetics they're putting actual game changing weapons into them.
I feel like will continue on in future titles.

well i mean that one activision 007 game that can't be bought digitally anymore, wasn't really far off the mark

Speaking of that, apparently there's a new game in that franchise being developed. "Heavy Gear Assault", currently in Early Access.
...and it looks like it's selling you a fair bunch of stuff. Huh.
If they do zero-g maps and essentially make Shattered Horizon 2 I'll buy this day-one

Going in the cash-money, e-sports direction. Damn that looked pretty disappointing.

you've played Black Ops 3 Zombie mode right?
is this series eventually just going to loop back around and become halo
I feel awkward watching CoD trying to become more like Halo and Halo trying to become more like CoD but them both just ending up shit because they forgot what they were good at. Like if you've got that much mass market appeal never ask your player base what they think you're good at because they have no fucking idea. Why do we like CoD? KILLSTEAKS AND pr0gRESSIOM?!?1! Why do we like Halo? Cool space shootery stuff and a pseudo biblical story! It has absolutely nothing to do with it being a perfect meld of modern and old school shooting adapted to fit perfectly on console.
fucking finally, i hope there's full blown sci-fi weaponry this time around or the space aesthetic is all for naught.
I haven't played the last two or three cod games, but i recon they didn't have major Price kicking every door on his way anymore, and i'm sure they are not going to introduce him again in the next game since most space doors usually just slide, which makes them resistant to kick-opening. So i guess i'm not going to buy this game too.
WW1 for me
Verdun, if you can deal with some minor bugs and atm a clunky melee mechanic its just what youre looking for.
I don't get the complaints about CoD being repetitive and unoriginal, Black Ops 3 had tons of fun shit to do. You had jetpacks, wall running, unlockable classes with their own abilities like AoE gravity hammers, anti-tank revolvers, swarms of killbots, a guy who could rewind time, stuff like that.
You could pretend it was a bootleg Unreal Tournament or Divine Cybermancy and stomp unexpecting tryhards, it was hilarious.
most of call of duty's hate is derived from previous shitty quality/monotony, infinity ward's ineptitude post-cod4, yearly releases, and 'modern shooter' genre.
it's no longer low quality or monotonous, infinity ward is getting better (albeit at molasses speeds), yearly releases != yearly purchases or yearly development times; there's 3 different dev studios in rotation making these games now each with their own unique fanbases, and the games haven't taken place during modern day in ages.
Infinity Ward isn't what it used to be.
Now it's trying to ride on the coattails of the sci-fi successes after it terribly failed with Ghosts. Hell, they thought it might get a sequel when they used that terrible cliffhanger.
It's worse than that. Everyone from Infinity Ward either quit or were fired after the first Modern Warfare.
They died long before Ghosts.
I'm waiting for this shit to blow up into Warhammer40k type shit.
can we get a CoD with fantasy elements?
