• Minnesota Republicans Want to Ban a Voting System That Gives Third-Party...

There is a better alternative, it's called STV. By all means ranked choice is better than FPTP and I even said it'd help in situations like you described, whether it will help third parties or not is a different matter.
Of course the tendency toward two-party dominance still exists. The two-party system is so thoroughly entrenched in U.S. politics that no single change to the electoral system can completely disrupt it. But if you're claiming that third parties would be worse off under a Ranked Choice system, you are mistaken. RCV does far more than just mitigate the spoiler effect; it also empowers grassroots campaigns by removing the psychological chilling effect of "electability" from the equation. It allows voters to vote their hopes, not their fears. Imagine if just a handful of Iowans had voted for Bernie Sanders as their 1st preference and Hillary Clinton as their 2nd. Had this happened, it's likely that Sanders would have gone on to be the Democratic nominee, and probably the president. Had RCV been implemented in the 2010 Maine gubernatorial, we would have ended up with Michaud instead of LePage, and God-knows-how-many people would still be alive right now. I repeat: The spoiler effect is a crucial psychological barrier to overcoming the two-party system. By all means, if RCV isn't your cup of tea, feel free to suggest your own alternative. Support whatever electoral reforms you prefer. But at least do something—don't just criticize other peoples' ideas from a safe distance. As far as I can tell, STV is essentially RCV but with a limited number of preferences. That sounds like a wonderful idea, especially in crowded races.
Never heard of it, looked into it, seems a little convoluted, if not arbitrary. Where the formula they use comes from though? Where does the *votes for secondary candidate* divided by *votes for primary candidate* multiplied by six come from?
If you Support the GOP. You don't support Democracy...you support an Oligarchy striving for Authoritarian power. No wonder they want to suck Russia's dick so badly...
Figures they'd be against ranked-choice voting, the bastards. No, it's no silver bullet, but it'd definitely be an improvement on our current voting system and any improvement is better than no improvement, and that's exactly what Republicans don't want.
But you unfortunately forget this country have outdated Electoral College to declared victor for election, not popular (and yes plurality) vote.
