well I didn't want to be ruled by an insane manchild either but y'know hey it's not like there's anything either of us could have done to prevent it we didn't already do, right?
Would you look at that, EXACTLY what everyone said would happen with Bolton in less than a month after he's brought on. Even I wasn't that cynical.
"Who should I listen to? The career military officer whose been tested in battle, incredibly smart and knows what he's talking about?"
"Oh I know, the career politician whose know for being an aggressive war monger
This. Let's not forget that Russia was supposed to ensure that no more chemical weapons got used, when we tried a more limited response last time. Play stupid games, get stupid prizes.
Looks like we're seeing the death of the Republican party in real time. Americans are already war weary and targeting structures like they have is a precursor to an invasion force to follow. Iraq was already unpopular, and our final move from Afghanistan 15 years after the fact was viewed extremely positiviely. Another quagmire.
I honestly don't see another solution.
before we did a very limited strike, the airfield where the checmial attack originated.
They did it again, knowing full well that the US, France and UK were already on a knife edge with Russia due to THEIR use of chemical weapons on former soviet spies on UK soil. This is the epitome of Russia expecting us to back down and then finding out they had finally pushed us to far.
There's reporting by a Turkish journalist that Russian Airforce jets just took off from Latakia just a few moments ago. They're about 70 miles away from where we're striking.

Dear god no.
The last thing I want is another war.
Any kind of source?
I swear to God, if the Russians run interference and fire.
Need a good source
Appended to my post. Not sure how reliable the reporting is, the reporter works for this news org: Anadolu Agency
This is bad, I hope those jets aren't headed towards the US ships or else they'll get torn to pieces by their defenses if that's what they're trying to do.

Hey, I don't know how reputable this guy is but this may be why Russian jets took off
Rrumors on /k/ that USS Donald Cook was hit with a torpedo
Considering our carriers are heading too Syria, is it possible this is just the 1st wave, and the next wave is too gain air supperiority for further destruction of Syrian/Russian resources?

Unfortunately, I'm not sure how reliable that source is. I'm having a hard time verifying the veracity of that tweet myself - the site he works for isn't on mediabiasfactcheck - though it does seem like more folks are reporting it now.
This is on you dude, you and all other single issue voters.

Largest force of us army tanks since the gulf war are headed toward syria as we speak.
There will be another wave, yes. This first strike was hitting command and control centers in addition to chemical storage - which sure sounds like we're softening Damascus up for a larger attack.
