"independent journalists" can be literally fucking anybody. There are no requirements for someone to use that title. There's currently a huge problem with "independent journalists" on Twitter and the likes reporting on this Syrian nightmare but not a single one of them seems to be the person they are claiming on their Twitter feed. Either there's huge inconsistencies in their story of who they are, or they refuse to talk to anybody who doesn't already agree with their "it's a hoax!!!" viewpoint. Given how fucking bad disinformation campaigns have gotten recently from the likes of Russia and private businesses operating in the interests of the far right, trusting everything you see because "it's not the fake news CNN!!!" is an absurd point of view. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-trending-43745629
The man who wrote the article has been a regular for the independent for some time and has covered wars in the past. Usually none too happy about the wars the west are raging in the middle east but I would say that accounts for half the population of the country.
what the fuck are you talking about? why the criticism of independent journalists because "they can be literally fucking anybody" when we're talking about a specific one, whose name is right there? look him up and direct your criticisms that way. robert fisk is a veteran journalist with decades of experience in the middle east, if you want to say he's compromised, be upfront about it instead of this pussyfooting bs
He's not an independent journalist, he's a journalist who has worked for the reputable newspaper called 'The Independent' for 30 years as a middle east correspondent.
Yeah, I realised I fucked up but I'm not a fan of snipping my posts and by the time I'd realised I'd long fucked off to do other things. My bad. Though I'm definitely leaving that post there because it's still kinda relevant as there's a lot of disinformation going around under the guise of "journalism" on this subject tbh. (though perhaps when referring to journalists for the reputable publication The Independent, maybe say "A journalist for The Independent" rather than "independent UK journalist")
Jeez, the disinformation bots coming out of the woodwork again
