I think we should stop disrespecting the white lower classes, honestly, if we want this sort of thing to stop. Liberalism, whether in it's Victorian or progressive/social form, seems to have an awful track record of being an elite ideology that treats the plebs with class snobbery and the reason we can't have nice things in a democracy. The nationalists are just an extreme form of conservative reaction to this attitude where they basically become anti-bourgeois. It's a serious problem after the death of social-democracy and labor movements, because it means the left is not appealing at all to huge sections of the working class and comes off as a bunch of middle class idpol snobs obsessed with left wing culture and linguistic fads with no connection to reality or the average person Something that stands out in the 2016 election is Bill Clinton, himself a president who tried to speak to workers a lot, urging his wife to talk more about economics over culture and doing a lot of last minute campaigning in the rust belt states that ended up going red with economic nationalism. When conservatism feels like its fighting a class struggle subsumed into a cultural one, that's really bad.

If you overlook cancer it will consume you. Those billions of fucking nations all have one thing in common: misinformation and xenophobia dominates the national ideology. Communism swept over Asia because it was touted as change, a way to solve everyone's problems equally when in reality nothing changed at all except the flags and a massively reduced population. xenophobia was not only common but encouraged so any problems the government caused could be blamed on foreigners and minorities such as the Western capitalists and their blight upon the world or the kulaks and intellectuals being the root of all problems domestically. These movements if determined enough can ruin nations, continents and cause us to believe one man is inferior to another for if not his culture then his skin. A ferverous wave of radicals no matter their spectra will either take control and your freedoms, or will burn everything in an attempt to do so. Do not dismiss them as you did for you only downplay what actual power they have.

It isn't liberals hating on lower class people. Its lower class people who don't want to research anything about the government. Like fuck, a majority of americans think the electoral college system is an actual college, or don't understand who's jobs are who's when it comes to the different branches. This piled on with traditionalism, no education, and false news spreading has lead to extreme polarizing views. Plenty of people I talk to who hate the left are screaming about how they just tax and waste money, or hurt them personally or give away money to slackers. Facebook has only amplified it recently with spreading false info around and out of context clips. That and going into racial issues, disinformation, or just hating on people who partially lean left. The GOP doesn't want any of these people to look up whats really going on, in fact they fund disinformation shit like fox news regularly to keep them in the dark and misinformed. Look at the rust belt, soon they realized trump was just fucking with them and had no plans to actually help the failing mining sector. Bernie went there soon after and almost every single room he had all the people agree with him once he taught them the market and real reasons why the area is fucked, while providing solid plans on helping out. I don't hate on right leaning people, but if they are so far down the rabbit hole that they cant see the force behind them fucking them in the ass, then there's little you can do.
