Democratic leadership recorded pressuring progressive to leave race

Yeah, this is what I'm afraid of: That because Trump and the GOP are so fucking awful that they'll give us center-right Democrats that keep the rich people in the DNC nice and fat. When in reality they could be giving us actual progressive candidates in blue areas and slightly more center Democrats in areas that are less blue, because the "at least we're not trump" rhetoric will be a completely viable strategy. But no...
the more we bicker about hillary and bernie, the more we play into Russia's grand master plan of throwing the USA into chaos.
Yep.
Pretty much textbook for anyone that believes their political stance is correct because they believe it to be and that alone, that their faith in ______ is absolute because they're the pathological narcisisst that causes it to be true in a self fulfilling ass-sniff ouroboros clusterfuck.
Clinton's campaign and the aftermath reeked of it, and so did many many posts made here, wherein people were smugly and absolutely sure that victory would simply hand itself over to the side of right because they believed what Clinton said in obvious face value was factual, despite her history of being blatantly twofaced and disingenuous at whim.
The last election showed rather handily why the two party system has run its due course and should go away and also how to lose an election by utter arrogance and political over-piety.
In a way, though, Hillary paid dearly for her hubris. She may well go down in history as the only Presidential candidate who could have lost to Donald Trump.
Did it though? Would you be entirely surprised if she ran again under the stance of 'I won the popular vote!' or 'The only reason I lost was because Russia meddled in the election!'. To us, yeah, it's glaringly obvious that had we been given the choice of Trump Vs. Literally anyone besides Hillary that there is no way he would've won.
But I think you severely underestimate the hubris and sheer stubbornness that they're the right party for America.
Once you have a one party system, be it Democrat or Republican, is there really a difference at that point? They could have Hillary run for the presidency again, and the same thing will happen last election, except more than likely Hillary would win would be my guess.
Why even bother going through the motions of a primary? Just make every Democrat candidate handpicked by the Shadow Council.
I don't eve know which is which in this scenario but at this point I'd consider myself "Anything but a Republican" more than I would a Democrat.
Superdelegates are fucked but wouldn't that have basically screwed over the majority of people who preferred Clinton?
Yea, they are going to lose several more general and presidential elections in while.
While I hope same two third parties (Libertarian and Green parties) start taken maybe most local and few senate seats from my generation support.
Mmmmhhmmmm, I love the smell of Progressive Purity Police in the morning.
So-Called “Progressive” Purity Politics Will Keep the GOP in Pow..
If you're still dredging out this "Rigged Primary! Sad!" bullshit in YOTL 2018 you're a fucking tool.
Reading this right after reading the thing Orpheus posted in the Democrat polling thread is a trip.
Also I really miss the optimistic rating for times like these.
With how the Democrats are already expecting the "blue wave" I'd imagine that some areas are going to be lost because of that, among other things. My personal views on what the Democrats need to achieve is something akin too this:
Limit immigration, but reform the current immigration policies in such a way where the process is not full-retard in terms of lengths. Make sure that we are not causing a brain-drain in other countries by taking their brightest minds.
Forefront deurbanization, and create farmland in areas where only derelict buildings stand.
Prepare the economy for automation by introducing projects that'll aid artisan crafts, as well as small business encouragement. Automation will kill most minimum wage jobs, we need to give people alternative means to make money.
Finance hydroponic and aquaculture farms which take place within warehouses/vertical farms. These farms will support local economies by allowing the farming of exotic plants and spices within a suburban area.
Create programs/projects which begin the reintroduction of micro-livestock within the urban level. If anything, give tax credits for owning your own poultry/micro-livestock animals.
Kill all standing gun control, and reintroduce a newly ratified Militia Act. Make gun safety/hunter education courses mandatory for high school graduation. Allow ownership of all weapons. Automatics/Explosives require registration.
Rebuild and upsize our current rail network.
Rebuild the highway system.
Rebuild and Restructure all tunnels, bridges, and other infrastructure that goes under B level.
Decriminalize drugs. Allow people to cultivate their own narcotics for personal use.
Allow home distillation/brewing. Believe it or not, it's actually still illegal to some degree.
Kill the private prison system. Restructure the system towards a rehabilitative approach, but retain death penalty for serious offenses.
Redo the current welfare system. It should be a tier system, which encourages people to get off it.
Lower the drinking age to 18. [Goto war, vote, but cannot drink??]
Allow for LGBT marriage certificates, but do not force churches to do something against their religious beliefs.
Universal Healthcare. Also have policies which attack price-jumping on medications/items used in medical practice.
Boom, I made something that makes sense, and still doesn't include my more radical beliefs like allowing non-lethal duels to settle legal disputes.
We want a brain drain into the US though. We want to prevent leaking our brain into other countries.
UBI is the solution to automation. Proposing UBI to either side is going to be near impossible, especially with the lack of study on it.
Health issues arise from this kind of thing. There's a reason why some cities have banned chickens and such from city limits. However, tax cuts for owning a number of chickens should be allowed for people with not enough land to maintain cattle.
As much as I would love to see the high school bit of this happen, it won't. Ever. Overhauling current gun legislation is a big necessity though. The ATF has far too much power through interpretation and the fragmentation across states is borderline ludicrous.
This, and public transportation within cities as a whole. Trains have a perception of being dated, but modern trains are ridiculously effective in moving people between metros.
I think "improve" would be the keyword here. The needed infrastructure exists, it just needs to be widened or maintained.
Decriminalize, yes. Personal growth, skeptical. Treating addiction as a health concern, absolutely.
Private prisons are awful and a blight on the justice system. I am neither for nor against the death penalty, it has its definite uses, and it has its definite abuses.
I've always been of the mind that, like I said above, UBI is the solution going forward with automation. Combining welfare programs into one UBI program would drastically reduce administrative overhead, and would be a fair blanket system for everyone without having to take special circumstance into consideration when granting it.
21 is ridiculous. Every other developed country is here, but this is just a typical American tradition bullshit excuse.
Separation of church and state. I don't think anyone has been or wanted to force churches to participate in LGBT marriage, nor should they. The state, however, should be blind to such things. If your church doesn't want to marry you, then you are at the wrong church.
This just has to become a thing, there's really no way around it.
Some of the stuff I skipped was just kind of in left field for me, and I wasn't sure how to adequately respond to it.
Just throwing it out there that the reason stills are banned is because if you don't understand the chemistry involved and take special effort to boil the ethanol and methanol off separately, you brew something that makes people blind and dead. It's very easy to create a poisonous distilled alcohol if you don't know exactly what you're doing, and in order to ensure still operators know what the fuck they're doing, they must be approved and licensed.
