This bit here is quite important though:
If the Senate approves the measure, the measure would not likely pass the Republican-controlled House of Representatives or survive a veto by President Donald Trump.
Please let there be a spark of hope left for our government
I highly doubt it'll go through, only hope is when the Republicans lose control of the Senate.
Keep in mind, even if this doesn't make it through the house, it sends a message that Net Neutrality is what people want. It's important to keep it in the public eye until NN gets a shot at happening again.
There should be a push for Democrats to adopt a platform of putting net neutrality into law. Give the FCC the job of enforcing net neutrality, not deciding whether it exists or not
I can't believe people have to fight tooth-and-nail to prevent this country from becoming more shit than it already is
Doesn't matter so long as Trump can veto it.
Ye, the dems adopting it into their platform will probably force Republicans to do it as well.
Remember republicans, its popular to be champions of the people and being popular means being profitable. don't want to be on the wrong side of history now do we?
It’s getting big wool because it won’t mean anything. There’s been big messages hundreds of times. And every time republicans show they don’t care. They don’t give a shit about the people. Their pockets are lined with money so who cares
Democrats are highly likely to take back the house, so if the senate does pass this and it dies in the house, it may still be back later.
At which point it's up to trump lol
It'd have to pass the Senate again in the new session, and the Democrats wouldn't be able to force another vote on it because that's a one-off thing they can do through the Congressional Review Act - unless they take the Senate as well, which is far less certain
America: The world's best 3rd-world country!
Judging current state of DNC, Probably won't and only depends if IPSs own current head of DNC Tom Perez.
The Republicans are a lost fucking cause. The point is to make sure the democrats don't forget next time they get the reins. It's about keeping it in the public eye and not letting a Net Neutrality-free internet become the new normal.
Can they also secretly add an amendment that would send Ajit Pai to Gitmo real quick
