like i said i've rather unfortunately had to deal with them my entire life and do so every day at the office, and i've had that exact conversation about 9/11 with a few of my coworkers (albeit with an oblique approach) and got the same flat denial that it's even a question worth asking, the same way they believe with bulletproof faith that poor people are poor because they're lazy, trickle-down reaganomics will finally start working if we cut a few more children's programs, socialism is evil and people only work hard if they're in constant fear of losing their home, torture works and terrorists deserve it, america is the best in the world at everything it does and everyone else is somehow inferior (even when they're not, there's always that mental qualifier that it doesn't count because they're Not Free Like Us), america is a country for straight white christian men and everyone else can go to hell, fox news is the only reliable news source, etc, etc, and then let's slather on a layer of wankery over personal freedom and rule of law and calling taxes theft, but alas, i'm too lazy tonight to really go down the mindfuck rabbit hole of mental gymnastics, and/or carefully-safeguarded ignorance, required to maintain a conservative worldview. but please keep venting your spleen and telling me i've never even met one when i literally have to work with them 60 hours a week and know quite well what my colleagues believe and how they talk when they think That One Liberal Faggot is out of earshot

Even if torture worked, civilised societies shouldn't engage in it. I grew up in a household that was pretty cool with beating kids. I can remember countless times i'd be hit until i confessed to doing something wrong, when it wasn't actually me. Serious torture in the real world is no different. You are hurting someone until you get the answers you want out of them... but you don't know what those answers are in the first place? they could "break" and lie their ass off and you wouldn't know any better- they could break under torture and just say whatever bullshit they thought you wanted to hear just to make the pain stop. Torture isn't some hyper effective tool that the feminised liberals are too pansy to utilise- it's just pointless,vindictive, and spiteful.

I understand where you are coming from but riddle me this. If the average republican voter is not any of these, then why are so many elected Republicans like this? It wasnt that long ago that the GOP were pushing an actual child molester to office, and he got uncomfortably close to winning. To be frank, the best light you can paint the average republican as is apathetic, someone who barely watches the news and votes republican on habit.

To be honest it isn't just conservativea anymore, it's most Americans sans a few individuals who genuinely researched it (which tends to be people leaned more to the left than a typical American democrat). I could ask my mother who admits that Trump is a monstrosity, and she likely would say "because they hate our freedom." It's evident how effective the Republican propaganda was, and it's horrifying. I love how at the very least Bush said "Muslim is a religion of peace," but it did nothing against the overall effort put in to propagating the War on Terror in the 2000s.

I talked to my father today about all this and agreed that this guy was a major asshole for saying this, but he still thinks it’s effective—that we have “chemicals” at are shown to work, etc. And when I bringing up the Middle East and wondering if we maybe didn’t constantly buttfuck the place that 9/11 might have not happened, but he insists that Muslims always have and always will hate western society because their religion tells to them always kill non-believers so they’d probably do it anyway. I honestly don’t think you can ever reason with people like this. It’s so black and white, right and wrong that no one looks at why.

I've lived in Georgia my entire life, Had parents who are extremely racist towards minorities, been preached back and forth about conservative ideas, And had friends/family/coworkers who all preach the same bullshit. The only reason I didn't turn the same was because I was able to form my own opinions thanks to the internet/friends. I learn majority of these boogey men are grossly exaggerated or just plain horseshit, and that majority of the conservative base doesn't understand economics/politics (especially global)/GOV systems. Conservatives are almost brainwashed to hell, especially in today's climate. You're seeing a fucking party that straight up tried to put a fucking child molester into office rather than lose. The same party that is happily preaching freedoms for the people is actively stripping protections and said freedoms from minorities. All this horrible shit, and people are still saying "well its better than some socialist democrat!". I've heard my own grandmother say that gays are ruining america by just existing. I used to think this was an outlier, but looking at the chain of command for the party I get why she said such a thing. The entire party is corrupt to the core. Democrats are also corrupt money wise, but I have never seen democrats openly insult dying people or disabled, push a child molester of a candidate, push "fake news" nonsense to weaken public media outlets, slash entire agreements with foreign nations on a whim, slash rights for minorities, remove protections from the general public and especially minorities, fucking attempt to stop an investigation to see if a foreign nation is influencing our country, and the list goes on and on and on. You can't fall back on "conservative vs neoconservative" because its a single party both vote for. I don't see anyone who's conservative that actually votes for a 3rd party and the numbers show.
