Yeah, America is fucked.
Nah, it's almost great again!
Right now Trump is basically that kid at the front of the close screaming about how cool he is, while the rest of the class (i.e. the rest of the world) just stare at him with concern.
imagine an alternate history where ronald reagan fell down an elevator shaft in 1976
Remember in 2016 when our biggest concern was "HeR eMaIlS" and people unironically thought that Trump would be better than her?
I don't know, I think my biggest concern in 2016 was that an illiterate, self-absorbed conman would be elected President.
https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/112373/503c5651-c17f-465d-ab06-3ebb89eee7ab/DdWfizoW4AENKRA.jpg imo he's just using the topic as an excuse to go on a tear about immigration in general
The only animals I see are the rabid, rotting dogs in charge using those below them as an excuse to do as they please in an attempt to garner more support from the fucked up pockets of extreme conservatives strewn about. There's gotta be a point where this fucks off or explodes, and i'm fearing the powder keg is the more likely result.
Pretty clear from watching the video of his statement that he's talking about MS13 members. As an outside observer, the bias in American news reporting is hilarious. The context was very clear.
Trump says so many totally contradictory things all the time that you can really think he says whatever you want him. He's the choose your own opinions president
Yeah because calling criminals animals is soo much better.
The line should have been "Donald Trump nominated for GOP Presidential run" but half of the country forgot how to brain for a few years thanks to constant propaganda so alas the red line has shifted to be way beyond the point of repair if it is crossed
Yeah, he should just mince his words when he's talking about these people: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4124133.stm Gang Leader Shot to Death on Road to Reform https://archives.fbi.gov/archives/washingtondc/press-releases/2011/ms-13-associate-sentenced-to-292-months-for-sex-trafficking-teenage-runaway-girls https://www.cbsnews.com/news/cops-victim-in-satanic-gang-murder-idd-as-missing-teen-genesis-cornejo-alvarado/
Dehumanizing ANYONE should be considered a criminal offense. Every time a genocide has occurred, it started out with leaders dehumanizing those soon-to-be victims, so that the common people would not feel empathy when they were slaughtered. This is fucking dangerous.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/politics/wp/2018/05/17/trumps-long-history-of-referring-to-nonwhite-criminals-as-animals/ “This is a textbook case of how dehumanizing and racist rhetoric works,” Sanchez wrote. “The question references a hypothetical MS-13 member. Trump immediately pivots to a vaguer ‘people trying to come into the country’ who we’re ‘taking out.’ The point of that move is precisely to conflate groups: ‘people trying to come in’ —> gang members —> ‘not people, animals.’ Spend five minutes on any racist message board and you’ll find a dozen instances of the trope.” Sanchez noted that Trump’s comments about some specific people accused of bad acts are more nuanced, such as when he addressed the August killing of civil rights activist Heather Heyer in Charlottesville. Trump was unwilling to call that act terrorism, saying that “the driver of the car is a disgrace to himself, his family, and this country” but that using the word “terrorism” in that instance meant that “you get into legal semantics.” The violence of the day, he said, showed that there “was blame on both sides” of the pro-Nazi/anti-Nazi debate. “But those nebulous ‘people trying to come into the country,’ ” Sanchez wrote, “don’t require that sort of individualized consideration. We can casually talk about ‘bad people’ and then dispense with the pretense of troubling ourselves about their humanity at all.” https://twitter.com/normative/status/997109972440899590 This guy's tweet is the start of a thread that is being referenced in the WaPo story. It succinctly argues the point I and I believe @CyclonatorZ were going for: Trump's comments aren't justifiable, they're evidence of a racist predisposition. A few choice examples: https://twitter.com/normative/status/997114312845090816 https://twitter.com/swin24/status/997083991294570496 https://twitter.com/normative/status/997115051302629376 https://twitter.com/normative/status/997120305683488768 https://twitter.com/normative/status/997125237560004608 https://twitter.com/normative/status/997170718545760256 https://twitter.com/normative/status/997175517085396992 First reply I see on Twitter: https://twitter.com/PorathWendy/status/997191119577518080 C'mon, wake up and see the truth, dumb Democrat sheeple!
But he ate a taco bowl and said he loved Hispanics?! Yeah, loves to treat them like trash and throw “them” out. The only person worth dehumanizing is him.
No. I despise the mockery of American democracy that Trump has made as much as the next person, but dehumanization is toxic rhetoric no matter who it's aimed at. Donald Trump is a man. He is a pathetic, man, cowardly, spiteful, hateful, self-interested, unthinking, illiterate by choice, balding, and likely too mentally compromised to be deemed fit for office, but he is still a man just as I am. When the full extent of his crimes are known, punish him for them. Impeach him from office, indict him when he is officially removed, give him the benefit of due process and as fair a trial as any American is due, and convict and sentence him for all of the crimes that can be proven to the required, fairly demanding criminal justice standards. Freeze his assets, fight his appeals, which he will no doubt attempt to appeal directly to the Supreme Court over as step 1, and LOCK HIM UP for the crimes he can be rightfully confirmed to have committed, but do not dehumanize him. You're no better than those you profess to hate if you do. America needs heroes who resist the pull of evil. Be a hero in your own small way, own the national discourse and steer it away from hateful speech that informs your opponent you consider them vermin to be later exterminated.
You’re right. That was very well said and I’m sorry—I shouldn’t let myself get riled up like that and get caught in the hysteria.
Sure, Trump didn't look like a spring chicken before but - look at that thumbnail in the OP. He looks like a corpse in a horror movie after his life essence has been sucked out of him. Like Obama syndrome but worse.
My Dad was probably one, but really he didn't support Hillary because of the Benghazi situation. Given his military involvement I thought it was understandable even though I voted against Trump. He never was a true Trump supporter, only thought that some of his policies were better than Hillary's, immigration and misc. controversies notwithstanding and the fact Hillary won in my state. He's regretted his vote since the first 60 days. Now he can't look at some of our neighbors and friends in the eye when they bring up Trump. The last time I bought up something really shitty with Trump when getting political he raised his voice saying "Then get this fucking bitch out of the office!" That was the last time we ever went political, and now we all hate Fox News. This election brought out the worst in people for good and bad reasons.
You people will find any way possible to bash Trump. When it's pointed out that the article is wrong and Trump as actually talking about gang members you jump to "calling vicious murderers animals is bad". If you honestly think that then you're just a huge puss. This forum is leftist it hurts.
Or maybe you could address my post above that explains, by way of quoting others who express it much better than I could, why it's not so simple as "Trump was talking about gang members and leftists got triggered".
I honestly think this will get worse. Remember, one of them said that he doesn't consider liberals/Democrats human/people. 'To me, they're not even people' from shithead #2 (Eric). In fact, I think some of these people are hoping for a red wave, or a terrorist attack and waiting for the "liberals are the problem" comments. While I do think that there is a chance we will see a blue hurricane, we need to make sure this shit doesn't happen again because there could be someone intelligent and studying on what he is doing wrong. So make sure you vote.
Well, yeah, it is, obviously. Calling the likes of MS-13 animals is not nearly the same as calling the average undocumented Mexican immigrant an animal.
Alright. Go ahead and show us "Shining Examples" of Trump doing something good if ya think we rag on him too much...
I don't disagree that he's a garbage politician, just that spinning everything he does as bad isn't conducive to proper scrutiny of what he or his government does. Remember when he made a a whole fuss about transgender people being banned from the military - meanwhile in the background the Republicans blocked the ACA? This whole thing sounds like invented outrage over what he said - instead, look at the policies he's enacting which have actual tangible effects.
Refusing to dehumanize anyone, even violent criminals, should not be an indication that someone is a leftist. It should be a principle held by everyone regardless of political leaning. Calling people that do this pussies is childish and stupid and a fantastic way of getting yourself ignored. If you think this forum is too leftist then make an actual argument in defense of this.
Fucking libcucks just triggered by dehumanization, such ignorant pussies, dehumanization has never led to anything bad!
https://www.whitehouse.gov/articles/need-know-violent-animals-ms-13/ let's double down on this animals thing
I think it's kinda funny that some people call other people they hate animals as if humans weren't in the animal kingdom themselves.
