i feel like we've already had a couple groups like this pop up or have their movements gain strength democratic socialists tend to be pretty strongly against everything trump&co have done, and have made some good strides in local elections antifa's as the name implies, protesting speeches by facists and neonazis, tossin up posters and flyers talkin shit about authoritarianism, etcetc. it's reassuring seeing groups easily popping up & taking hold thanks to the internet, but honestly i'm still stressing out over the shit this country's administration is moving towards

I agree that it's pointless to defend his character. I'm not trying to do that. The question was Can anyone reasonably defend at this point that Trump's "animals" comment wasn't directed at all immigrants? to which the answer is "yes", you could reasonably defend that individual comment because, in context, that was what it meant. This is another thing entirely.

Just a point I'd like to make here Trump isn't going to be remembered for his business or how 'successful' he supposedly is He isn't going to be remembered for inspirational speeches like most other presidents have been He isn't going to remembered for his boasted 'amazing boost to the economy even a week before he's even president' he's going to be remembered for reverting the US back to a time that we are trying to get out of, where the banks have the power to accidentally fuck everything up, businesses are allowed to control communication and media to an unbelievable degree, and a minority was treated with no remorse or feeling at all. Lets not forget directly supporting massive environmental damage that could lead to even further damage to the entire planet. That is Trump's entire legacy. Not doing anything that anyone else could have done, and making everything just generally that much more shitty.
