• Trump on undocumented children: "They look so innocent. They're not innocent."

He's vain and tries to cover up his bald spot. It's been a running joke about Trump since the 80s. I'm insulting his atom-thin ego with that. The mere act of being bald itself is not a negative character flaw.

Pardon me while I puke all over my floor.
Why would senators be allowed to waltz in with cameras to something like this? Also, reminder that ICE began imprisoning children long before trump became president. His actions are despicable, but this problem reaches far beyond easy D's incompetence/malice.
If you read the article, he tried to get a visit through proper channels. This is ostensibly a government-run operation, through a contractor, and as a government operation it should be subject to oversight. They refused to cooperate at every turn and called the cops on him. ICE were the gestapo before, but everything's been injected with steroids because Trump's administration has directed enforcement to separate all families crossing the border illegally as a deterrent but really it's just adding extra cruelty to an already fucked set of policies. And now we find that they're operating with no transparency and clearly don't want anyone to know what they're doing. And this is after ICE has been accused of sexual and physical assault against immigrant children who're being detained before the Trump administration even got into town.
Why wouldn't they? Congress is largely in charge of oversight of a lot of our government agencies. That's why there's so many different ethics committees in Congress. And I don't see how a senator going into an ICE detention facility could actually be a bad thing anyways so I really see no problem regardless.
Unless they have something to hide there isn't a reason not to.
Fair points. I still find it prudent to mention that trump himself is not the one that organized the completely unacceptable ICE situation, only increased the amount of people going into it. I'm not attempting to defend him, for the record; merely point out that if/when trump gets booted, that won't fix the problem.
ICE isn't going anywhere, its a government department following its mandate.
It's mandate is overly broad and causes way more problems than it solves. Also if trump has taught us anything during his presidency, it's that anything that has been made can be unmade.
Its mandate is the same, however with a pro-ICE president such as Trump, gives them much more leeway than before, and no ICE won't go, because if it did, another department would take its place that would eventually turn into ICE in all but name.
lol so was the gestapo
What the fuck are you talking about, nearly every other government has managed to not spawn immigration guard dogs as shitty as ours.
It's kind of like police in that the current incarnation of it is a hot garbage fire that needs to be dismantled and rebuilt with better ethical principles in mind. If we have to have an immigration customs service we can have one that doesn't run fucking concentration camps for children.
