Northern Ireland is a country. They have their own government but not their own parliament. It's just a very complicated situation up there.
It's literally a constituent country of the UK.
FYI Northern Ireland legally isn't a country, it's just referred to as such by some groups but never officially. It's actually a province on the island of Ireland that's part of the United kingdom. It doesn't even have its own legal flag, though unionists have adopted a few to represent it. It's a messy situation.
Northern Ireland is not a province. Ulster is a province, which Northern Ireland make up two thirds of.
Its internationally recognised as a province, the UK put it forth as so. Internally in UK politics it's referred to as a region in the united kingdom, within Northern Ireland politics and news it's referred to as a province. It's never been a country. Ive lived here all my life I know the common terms used by the media etc to refer to where I live. I'm also aware northern Ireland doesn't make up all of Ulster.
